Did Perry go too far?
MSNBC ^ | August 16, 2011 | NBC’s Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, Domenico Montanaro, and Brooke Brower

** Did Perry go too far? A day after appearing to outshine Michele Bachmann on her home turf in Waterloo, albeit with some tough rhetoric aimed at President Obama, Rick Perry might have gone a bit too far in criticizing Obama and even the Federal Reserve while campaigning in Iowa yesterday. For Texans, this is typical Perry. But for Americans who do not know him, it's eyebrow-raising rhetoric. In fact, he sounded more like Trump or Gingrich. "I think the greatest threat to our country right now is this president trying to spend his way out of this debt," Perry said last night in Cedar Rapids, per NBC’s Carrie Dann. (A greater threat than international terrorism?) When reporters asked if he believes Obama doesn’t love America, Perry responded: “You need to ask him.” And then he upped the ante in remarks directed at the Fed. "Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous or treasonous in my opinion," Perry said, per Dann. He went on to say that promoters of such an idea -- hinting but not naming Ben Bernanke specifically -- would get an "ugly" treatment in his home state of Texas.

Sounds like good old plain-speaking to me.

“Although if Perry is seen as the “conservative” in the race he’ll have to go to the Country Club to get a VP candidate.”

Not necessarily. There are many who have suggested that he should choose Florida Senator Marco Rubio as his running mate. It would be awesome to have a Hispanic person on the ticket and we can reach out to the Hispanic voters. NOT pandering, but reaching out.

Gov. Perry once made a very interesting comment:

““The McCain folks totally blew it in my opinion on their immigration deal the moment they mentioned the word amnesty. When the word amnesty came in—American Hispanics don’t want anybody getting amnesty. ‘If you want to be an American citizen, get it the way I got it,’ that’s how they think. The Hispanic voter is a very intuitive and a very expansive individual, one issue doesn’t drive him. . . . They are strong family values people, they are religious, they are patriots, they are hard working. Gee, sounds like the GOP to me.”

And so it begins.

Everyone is crazy, ergo we must re elect Obama.

Obama has certain programs he wants but can't get them so he goes around congress with regulation. He wanted Cap and Trade but settled for the EPA shutting off coal fired electricity in 28 states. Just imagine Obama saying he wants to raise taxes, say 15%. The outcry would be huge and swift. So Bernanke prints money to devalue the currency 15% and you pay the tax at the store and gas station. The Chinese take monopoly money back for hard money they invested. How does it get any better than that for Obama?

It is a form of treason. Once the money is out there, it's very difficult to get it back and the administration of the future will have to deal with austerity, not Obama. It's called "kicking the can down the road"..........again.

Did Perry go too far?

Andrea Mitchell-Greenspan was unavailable for comment...she fainted while clutching her pearls before she was able to respond.

“but the issue of people who want to legally, thoughtfully and appropriately come to America to work and help us build our economy — we should quickly come up with a program and an identification card to do that.”

Didn’t he just support the DREAM act that gives children of ILLEGALS in-state tuition?(otherwise known as using tax dollars to support illegal activities?)

Rubio is not a good pick in my opinion, but he apparantly is a possibility.

I have to imagine they said the same thing about that kid, who said the emperor wasn't wearing any clothes.

'Bout time someone said it. 3 cheers for Perry.

No. Perry did not "go too far".

He just scratched the surface of the truth.

Did Perry go too far?

Nope. I appreciate his being on the side of the average American citizen. We need an advocate.
Something has to be done about the dangerous, run away government we currently have. It's about time someone spoke up before the right to do that is taken away from us, too.

"Perry’s comments were immediately condemned by a longtime aide to former President George W. Bush, the man who first appointed Bernanke to his job."

MSNBC keeps up with these reports I'll be able to make my mind up pretty quickly.

“This is the kind of drivel one can expect from the Chrissy Matthews network.”

And echoed today by none other than the lovely Jennifer Rubin on her WaPo blog.

Let’s just print 14 trillion dollars or hey, how about 20 trillions dollars. That’ll solve our problems.

I think you are correct on that...she will stay in the house if reelected there..she is running right?

As far as a VP, Santorum is a possible for Perry...He will need someone from the north to shore up his southwest credentials IMO. Cain from Ga is a no go for that. Pawlenty will decline if asked...Romney will fade out of the picture...Rudy, no way, he would be an anvil...will be appointed AG in a Perry administration. I don’t think Palin wants any part of the under ticket either.

If Perry really means it, he should come up with a plan to wind down the Federal Reserve. Put his money where his mouth is.

"We don't need a Ricardo Perry"

Maybe you don't but it's becoming increasingly clear that America does. I guess the answer to the immigration issue is to destory the economy to the point that no one will want to come here, illegals or legals... If that is the case then Obama is our man, not Perry or any other Republican.
