Yawn. Who cares that Perry supported Al Gore in 88, Michelle Bachmann supported Carter....there is another yawner...she is conservative now. Your logic is screwy. Perry has a 10 record of making actual decisions, not just talk and votes, far more than any other candidate or potential candidate. If you want to trust talk and votes go ahead, actual experience is a far better measure. Yeah, I know you think his record completely stinks to high heaven, fine, Perry supporters see it as overall conservative but with some warts. The others don't have as many warts because they don't have enough time in an executive position, they are very green in comparison
See post 31 at the link for a list of Perry's conservative points. Then, if you don't thinks its good enough, show me the record of another candidate that is better, on all the issues of concern. Oh wait, you can't, all you can do is bash Perry. Nuff said.

That is absolutely correct. In fact, that Perry used to be a democrat but has seen the light and is now a conservative republican should be counted in his favor because it means that he came to his conservativism through experience and thought, and did not just inherit it. I tend to trust more someone who thought his way to conservativism rather than someone who simply adopted it because of his family, etc....
That, of course, is more for the sake of illustration and is not meant to be read as implying that I distrust any sort of honest conservative, however s/he arrived at her/his conservativism.
