I am a retired LEO. I know full well that there are corrupt LEOs. I have ordered their arrests - including within my own department.
I am fully aware that there are incompetent and/or lazy LEOs. When their failure to meet professional standards leads to things like SWAT raids on the wrong premises, there should be consequences: discipline up to and including termination, civil and even criminal penalties.
I NEVER compounded and perpetuated, nor would I ever permit the compunding and perpetuation of a miscarriage of justice to cover up a mistake. You made an honest mistake or found out the information you were given was bad and got the wrong guy? It happens. When it does, take off the cuffs, apologize and drive him home. If you get sued, that’s what lawyers are for. You don’t make it better by fabricating, lying, perjuring and trumping up a case to cover your sorry *ss.
Civilian elected leadership must perform their oversight functions. Every LE agency and LEO should be accountable. These things should be unquestioned.
All that having been said, those here on this board who advocate or rationalize killing cops because their conduct or procedures in performing their SWORN DUTIES in good faith to enforce the laws enacted by the elected representatives of the people conflict with some childishly simplistic uber-libertarian view of what those laws ought, in their personal opinions, to be are - quite simply - morons with dangerously compromised judgement and a badly flawed or absent sense of proportion. Or sense of simple right and wrong.
And not peep from our Dear Leader. THAT is MY issue with HIM.
