Americans' Satisfaction With National Conditions Dips to 11%
Gallup ^ | August 18, 2011 | Jeffrey M. Jones

PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans' satisfaction with the way things are going in the United States has fallen back to 11%, the lowest level since December 2008 and just four percentage points above the all-time low recorded in October 2008.

1979-2011 Trend: In general, are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the way things are going in the United States at this time?

The Aug. 11-14 Gallup poll finds satisfaction down five points from July (16%) and nine points since June (20%). The dip is likely a response to the recent negotiations to raise the federal debt ceiling and continued concern about the national economy amid a volatile stock market. The recent downing of a U.S. military helicopter in Afghanistan resulting in the deaths of 30 U.S. servicemen could also be contributing to Americans' glum mood.

Gallup began measuring Americans' satisfaction with national conditions in 1979. Since then, satisfaction has been lower than the current 11% in only a few measurements in the final months of 2008. The all-time low of 7% came in an Oct. 10-12, 2008, poll, conducted shortly after stock values plummeted following Congress' passage of the TARP legislation in response to the September 2008 financial crisis.

The current figures represent the continuation of a long slump in national satisfaction, which has been below 30% since September 2009, below 40% since August 2005, and below 50% since January 2004. The historical average satisfaction rating since 1979 is 40%. The all-time high is 71% in February 1999.

Democrats are somewhat more likely to say they are satisfied (19%) with conditions in the United States today than are Republicans (9%) and independents (8%).

President Barack Obama declared Thursday: “There is nothing wrong with our country. There is something wrong with our politics.”

See. NOTHING wrong with the country. There you go. 11% is due to TEA Party terrorists.

"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations".

Who are these witless 11 percent who think things are good? Do they live under rocks? Are they blind and deaf?

I haven’t had a vacation in 5 years.

Now I cannot even afford to take a drive on a Sunday evening, the gas is so high. I haven’t eaten at a restaurant in a year I find a piece of steak selling at Food Lion for $11.99 a lb. A chicken breast there is $4.99 a lb.

But Mr. Obama is sending his wife on separate vacations, going on vacations himself,Golfing and being flown out to Andrews on his helicopter to his tee time, flying to Camp David, riding around campaigning in his new Million dollars bus complete with driver, fuel,Secret Service protection living like a king at my exense and then telling me that I need to cut back.
Telling me that we all need to share in the pain. When does his share start? Where is his pain?
He says it is great to get out of Washington. When has he NOT gotten out of Washington?

When I leave my home and arrive at a destination, there are no crowds giving me any adulation, there is no one around kissing my arse 24/7.

You wonder why people are unhappy?? Because we have a clown for President who doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground and is calling ME a terrorist.

Well Fudge him and the horse he rode in on.

I'm seeing a LOT of parallels with what happened to one Martin Van Buren--a Democrat, no less!--between 1837 and 1841.

Contrary to what the MSM says, the American voter is getting increasingly upset at Obama ignoring the wishes of the American electorate and he now faces an increasing chance of getting drubbed in November at least as bad as what happened in 1980.

I am not finished, we are struggling to make ends meet and he wants to raise tax’s, we are spending millions in trying to stop Muslims from murdering us, we are losing our best men fighting Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq, Somalians Muslims are leaving our country to go and learn to make bombs and become suicide bombers, and this POS is having them over to the White House for Ramadan dinner while he will not recognise our National Day of Prayer.

Filling our military with Perverts, teaching perversions in our schools, destroying the DOMA and he wonders why we are not happy.

Calling his bus trip a listening tour so his campaign will not have to pay for it. He is a damned liar.
The Congress who back him up are damned liars. “We will have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it”. A damned lie, they knew what was in it and they passed it anyway.

Lied to, overtaxed, our money and savings destroyed, working to destroy our electric energy, and close down coal and energy reserves while we build bird killing fans, that we buy from China. Sending our companies abroad and appointing the man who does it as jobs Czar. Sending billions abroad when we allow our own infrastructure to decay.

He wants to know why we are getting angry?

Who are these witless 11 percent who think things are good?

Probably SEIU members and government employees (AFGE members).

Well hell, since were so close, we might as well see what 0 percent looks like...

2012 is going to be ugly in all respects, except on Nov. 5th, but I suspect there will be artificial event that negates the will of the people if it means BO loses his job.

Has any sitting President ever survived a number like that?
Perhaps only Lincoln in the darkest days of the Civil War?

It’s clear that Obama is turning America into a socialist sewer, thus displeasing those on the right; what is less clear is why the Marxists of varying persuasions and labelings on the left are unhappy.

After all, they’re living their wet dream of post-Soviet rule by the proletariat.
