Perry's Public Service Behold, a hard-money Texas politician..Article Video Comments (268) more in Opinion ». Email Print Save ↓ More . .smaller Larger All the world's right-thinkers are denouncing Rick Perry for suggesting this week that Texans would get "pretty ugly" with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke if he guns the money supply any more between now and the 2012 election. His poor choice of words aside, the Texas Governor is right to put monetary policy front and center in the 2012 Presidential debate.

Let's stipulate that Mr. Perry, in his first week on the Presidential stump, was wrong to use the words "almost treacherous, treasonous" in referring to Mr. Bernanke. Both of those words ought to be reserved for specific acts of betrayal against America, and the Fed chief is certainly a patriot. In particular, "treason" is the only crime specifically defined in the Constitution, which is something a tea party politician ought to learn.

I'm really tired of the BS that somehow the Elites are not to be offended. The fact is if you are unemployed or working as a bagger at the local supermarket. Your home is 2 months away from foreclosure. You have to give up the fam dog because you can't afford food. And you find out food stamps aren't all they are cracked up to be, "treacherous and tresonous" is EXACTLY the right terms. treach·er·ous [ tréchərəss ] 1.traitorous: betraying or ready to betray somebody's trust, confidence, or faith 2.perilous: involving hidden dangers or hazards Synonyms: unfaithful, traitorous, disloyal, deceitful, false, double-crossing, perfidious, two-faced, untrustworthy, shifty, duplicitous, underhand PERRY IS RIGHT!

Harvard economist Kenneth Rogoff has suggested that an annual 4% to 6% rise in the price level over several years would do the trick. Assorted columnists are picking up the theme, and our guess is that the Obama Administration is privately on board. By all means, we need a debate in 2012 over Fed policy.

I would venture that even my Principles of Econ students would do a better job of setting economic policy than Rogoff or Obozo's economic advisers. This is a classical Keynesian Liquidity Trap and monetary policy is like pushing on a string...it can't do anything that's "real". Cut personal and corporate income taxes permanently, cut regulatory red tape, then stand back and GTF out of the way.

Printing money is just as much theft by dilution as when a bartender waters down the drinks.

The last thing the “citizens of the world” traitors want to hear is the word “treason.” Gives them rope burn nightmares.
