LOL, its not that long ago. Oh? Kids born when the Soviet Union fell, are now full grown adults, ready to start careers and families. That's how long ago it happened.
Any person who is mentally that far out out of present time, is no where near capable enough to be president. Witness Barry signing "2008" in the Buckingham Palace visitor log some months back.
Need I say more?
Like you, I never thought Michelle had a chance anyway, and believed that she had already risen to the pinnacle of her life as a Tea Party favorite in Congress.

It's been 20 years, and people do mistakenly say it all the time - they usually correct themselves quickly, but it still happens. It was a silly slip of the tongue, I'm sure (I hope), nothing to crucify the woman over, but after the Elvis’ birthday business, John Wayne's hometown, and most importantly, the guaranteed growth within 3 months of her ascendancy to the presidency, etc., she's proving to be seriously gaffe prone and/or slightly out there. She's becoming the GOP’s Biden. It's unfortunate, I like her, but it's embarrassing.
