In other words, he figures that getting elected to the senate again would not be easy or certain.
It’s probably easy and certain.
Just not favourable, for him.
Looks like he doesn’t want to spend money campaigning and then have a high probability of losing. The WI unions have spent money at a deficit on the recall elections and the Judge Prosser election, and that leaves them very lean going into 2012.
The union money has one arrow left in the quiver - try to turn at least one member of the Wisconsin state senate from a nominal “R” to a practicing “D”.
But this leaves little latitude for a person now out of office to be able to worm the way back in.
The bench behind Russ is weak weak weak. Tammy Baldwin with a C communist instead of a D behind her name.
And IF he won, a BIG “if” he’d be in the MINORITY
Running on the ticket with Baraq “food stamp” Obama in Nov 2012 will be a lot of “fun” for Dems, heh heh heh.
In other words, he's running for president in 2016. Starting his own PAC, traveling around the country, setting himself up as an outsider...
That would leave the House and Governorship in the hands of Repubs, and a conservative supreme court. A Dem controlled senate could block any further Repub initiatives, but could not get any Dem initiative passed. The result would be gridlock until after the 2012 elections. Meanwhile, the unions would continue to bleed money.
Russ sees the tsunami coming.
I wonder if the liqour sales at the Sport Bowl in Middleton will go up with Russ staying in town. Or maybe he goes to the Outback instead because it is more of a yuppie place.
Would you like to be a democrat candidate for senate trying to convince people to send you to Washington to continue the “good work and successful policies of the Obama administration”? Nuff said.
BINGO.
Word is that the State Senator you are likely referencing, Dale Schultz, is also not running after this term.
Feingold was itching to run for president in 2008, and could be thinking of making a run. But if he was thinking of 2016, wouldn’t he want to have a gubernatorial victory or two under his belt first? Maybe he’s thinking of challenging Obama next year—he could run to Obama’s left while still being viewed by moderate Dems as someone “electable.”
Very bad news for the dems. They had their hopes pinned on Feingold either running for Kohls senate seat or running against Walker in a recall.
Bet he runs for something in 2014
No ... governing is messy, especially with a GOP legislature, and there's a good chance he'd be proven either impotent or be forced to compromise his radical socialist beliefs. Running would also be chancy - if he lost to Walker, he'd be done.
Democrats don't really care if their nominee has governing experience. Their primary electorate is really looney tunes now.
