It's amusing and at the same time sad to read all the responses that say the store owner should "just do this, or just do that" and that will fix the problem.
As if these stores that are operating on razor margins as it is can just wave their magic wand for a retrofit.
No, what will happen is they will close. This store in this story, as are others, are in what would hardly be called the ghetto (at least by South Side of Chicago/Northwest Indiana standards that I'm familiar with).
No, the store will eventually close along with other businesses and then the ghetto will set in. Then Whites noticing the ghetto has creeped up to their borders again will flee, causing thousands more acres to be paved over, commutes wasting millions of gallons of gas and man hours will lengthen.
Billions of dollars will be spent (wealth destroyed) just to live a bit further out.
Then liberals will decry the "food deserts" and tax money will go to subsidize grocery startups that will ultimately fail, and then public transportation systems will be put in place to haul the ghetto dwellers out to the stores.
Then guess what? In 10 years the cycle repeats. You can only begin to imagine the amount of wealth destroyed by this now 50 years of repeating this cycle in this country. It has to be well into the trillions.
Abandoned real estate, homes, factories, farmers driven off productive land by now raised property taxes to usher in new development for new schools built. It boggles the mind.
It's amazing we've been able to keep our head above water for this long, what with competing against the world with this millstone of wealth destruction around our neck. Thankfully many of our competitors have decided to add some millstone to themselves as this went on or we'd have been drowned long ago.
We had this problem contained and then we stopped doing what it was that contained it and you're anathema if you advocate it. So now what?
You can't compete with a China, South Korea, Singapore, or Japan with this repeating cycle. You just can't.
Seriously I ask people here, what are we going to do? Because it's not going away, and we can't afford to go on as we are.
I remember well that comment by several Obama supporters of [ahem] a non-white race. It made me sick to think that some Americans are truly that stupid.
It has become an object lesson for my children, all of whom know the value of money and where it comes from.

These stores could go back to closing at 5:00 p.m. and waiting on customers through the turnstile window during the night hours. That would confine the mobs to daylight hours at least.

The mom and pop shops will probably close, but chain franchisees will probably stay open, but with enhanced security measures.
High unemployment and high grocery prices have absolutely NOTHING to do with this. All the attention to the activity have just generated more of the same.
These are teenage girls out on the streets at 3am. Maybe if they got their arses into bed, slept, and got up early to look for a job, made a decent appearance and spoke somewhat grammatical English, they might find a job. But the economy and food prices excuse in the DC Metro area is pure, unadulterated BS.

One loan clerk with a gun is not going to be able to stop 10 or 20 yutes, who may also be armed.
You need to remove the incentive. It’s much less tempting to come enmasse when, due to a lockable revolving door or security gate, no more than three people can come in.

Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana,South Carolina, Tennessee - when did any of these states have an anti-gun or anti-defense regime? The answer is never.
Yet, crimes of this nature have plagued and created ghettos in Houston, New Orleans, Birmingham, Memphis, Jackson, Atlanta and Charleston.
No, guns while they will help in an immediate situation, aren't going to help transform the problem when dealing with people who don't consider repercussions before they act anyway.
What did the government do differently in 1927 that kept the lid on this? You can say welfare, but they have welfare in Vermont and North Dakota, and they don't have no-go city areas.
Look, little old ladies didn't need to pack a pistol in 1927 to travel anywhere in this country safely. And they shouldn't have to now. That's defeatist and frankly tyrannical in my opinion to say to the defenseless old and infirm "hey, you want to be safe, you better pack some heat."
That's not civilization, that's anarchy, when society says "screw it, you're on your own for protection". What's the point of a society in that condition anyway?
The situation we're dealing with is much uglier and deeper than pistols in purses will fix. And even worse, it's taboo to talk about in a frank manner.
Shoot first. It will be a civil rights case but on the flip side, people will think twice about entering the store as a flash mob.
Also works for SEIU thugs who step on your property.
