HARRISBURG, Pa.Foreign students who walked off their jobs in protest this week at a plant that serves The Hershey Co. may soon be getting a free trip to see some of the United States' cultural and historical landmarks. Rick Anaya, chief executive of the nonprofit that helped bring the students to the U.S., said Friday that the plan emerged after a two-hour conference call with representatives of the other companies involved in their employment. The students began a strike Wednesday, saying their work was so strenuous and low-paying they've been unable to see much of the country.

Shoulda got a guvmint job.
How about they get a trip straight back to where they came from?
So tell me, is this HERSHEY corporation itself? What exactly does this factory do?
I want to know, so I can be sure to avoid purchasing any candy this place makes. I won’t support such bullcrap with my HARD EARNED DOLLARS.
Hmmm? Crazy for their company to do this! Maybe I should protest my company, until I get them to give me a free vacation, with pay, and for them to pay all my vacation expenses. This is so stupid.
Actually I’m kind of curious about the status of these “students”. Are they here on student visas? Are they actually attending any classes?
Anybody this willing to pay them off with an expenses paid trip around America is hiding something.
Didn’t see any mention of which country they’re “visiting” from, did you?
Didn’t see any mention of which country they’re “visiting” from, did you?
Take them to that cultural landmark called the Mexican border and shove the little ingrates back across it. They can protest in their home countries until their hearts are content, at least until they get rounded up and shot by the secret police.
Shouldn’t they be in school?
It’s not Hershey. It’s a contractor of Hershey they were working for.
why bother?
Send their sorry asses home. Open those jobs up for an American who would most assuredly be glad to have it. What the hell are the folks doing working there in the first place?
It pays something like $8.25 and hour. Nobody will get rich on it but its an entry level job.
see post 13...just “foreign”.
Geeze, all the chocolate they could eat, and they’re STILL complaining?
Well-stated, Graneros! (and fire the POS bureaucrat that gave these ingrates work visas)
He acknowledged that the jobs are fast-paced and involve heavy lifting, but said the students knew what they would be doing. He said he became aware of complaints two weeks ago and sent managers to Pennsylvania to work out differences.
The students were offered the opportunity to leave the job if they were unhappy, he said.
Sounds like the Council for Educational Travel USA CEO, Rick Anaya, has changed his tune...now offering trips for these poor 'lil darlings?
This program is handled by thru Hillary's Czarship...
.A spokesperson for the Hershey Co. says that the plant is not managed by them, but by a division of German company Deutsche Post DHLA called Exel Logistics. Exel then turned to SHS Onsite Solutions, in Lemoyne, for staffing arrangements. An SHS Onsite spokesperson claimed that they connected with the Council for Educational Travel USA, in California, which recruited at least 370 of the students, and acts as their host. The company is listed as a J-1 sponsor by the U.S. State Department.
