Yes here is your answer: There is no contempt for the sovereignty of the United States in any LEGAL solution. You and I might prefer an all or nothing method of dealing with illegal immigrants. Orrn Hatch tried to solve the problem and you know what, it needs to be solved. He is a conservative and we don’t have a conservative, including the great Ronald Reagan, who has not done something not truly conservative.

By your yardstick, Ronald Reagan clearly had contempt for the sovereignty of this nation, and betrayed it. And that my friend, is absurd.

Orrin Hatch is a conservative and a rather heroic one.

Reagan made a mistake with his amnesty. I think if he were here and could look back and reminisce he would agree that it was an error.

Reagan's amnesty was also supposed to be a one-shot deal and we were supposed to get actual enforcement in exchange.

For someone to propose essentially the same deal 25 years later means they're treating you like a sucker. Those 25 years of experience with the policy make a world of difference.

A true conservative who honored Reagan's legacy would demand first and foremost that the commitment made to the American people be fulfilled.
