“Its critical that we don’t nominate someone with an existing handicap among voters or someone who will self destruct”

So, who should it be? What do you think?

Romney might have appeal (at least for now) to “independents” but he’s got NO support on the right. And, he couldn’t even beat McCain last time!

Palin’s negatives are THROUGH THE ROOF. As much as I like her I was very taken aback when a gal I work with, no big lib, said off the cuff about something “I really hate Sarah Palin but....” She did go on to defend Palin over some kerfuffle (I’m sorry I can’t remember what it was, some flap) but the way she said she “hated” her, it blew me away. I don’t know why people don’t like her, if the MSM just really destroyed her or what, but I’d be very hesitant to put my money on her.

Bachmann? She’s turning into a gaffe machine. I’ve sent her money, so it’s not like I can’t prove my support of her, but the Elvis thing was just s.t.u.p.i.d. I know it is a minor issue, but you really shouldn’t be making mistakes like that.

Santorum? Maybe, he could yet rise further.

Caine, Gingrich, Paul, these are all non-starters for various reasons.

So, those are the declared candidates plus Palin.

Well, I didn’t discuss Perry, but I’ll say he is looking like the not-Romney/not-Palin to me right now.

I don’t think Paul Ryan would be well served by getting in the race and I’m not sure the race would be well served by his entrance.

If Chris Christie leaves NJ to run for Pres. I will be really POed, and besides I don’t think he’ll play in Peoria. He’s very soft on the 2nd amendment and definitely no better on immigration than Perry.

So, I’ve blathered on, tell me what you think?

Exactly. The MSM pushed McCain hard in the primaries—precisely because they knew he’d self destruct in the General Election.

As for support on the Right, hate to say this, but they had better vote for whoever the Republican nominee is. Yeah, they can stay home and assure a BHO victory. You can say the same thing about those on the Left who think BHO isn’t Liberal enough. In the end, both extremes will will hold their nose and vote for the guy closest to their agenda.

I actually think Christie would be a very good choice. He is smart and a very effective, plain spoken speaker. I have seen numerous clips where he just demolishes his detractors, but in an logical, respectful way (not vicious). I think Christie is the one person that BHO would be absolutely terrified of. If they ever debated each other, Christie would clean BHOs clock.

And I think Christie is fuzzy on global warming. He and Perry are good on going after teacher unions.
