(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss) announced that he is the co-sponsor of five bills that defend Second Amendment rights.
“As a strong defender of the Second Amendment, I am pleased to co-sponsor these legislative measures that will remove unnecessary restrictions on firearms and eliminate harsh gun control laws. The right to bear arms is a fundamental right that is assured to every law abiding citizen, and as a member of Congress I will continue to fight for this right,” Nunnelee said.
Congressman Nunnelee is the co-sponsor of the following bills:
§ The BATFE Reform and Firearms Modernization Act (H.R. 1093) would roll back unnecessary restrictions, correct errors and codify longstanding congressional policies in the firearms arena.
§ The Firearms Interstate Commerce Reform Act (H.R. 58) would remove several antiquated and unnecessary restrictions imposed on interstate firearms business since 1968.
§ The Second Amendment Enforcement Act (H.R. 645) would eliminate harsh gun control laws imposed by the District of Columbia after the Supreme Court’s decision in D.C. v Heller (2008).
§ The Veterans’ Heritage Firearms Act (H.R. 420) would provide a 90-day amnesty period during which veterans and their family members could register firearms acquired overseas between June 26, 1934 and October 31, 1968, without fear of prosecution.
§ The Collectable Firearms Protection Act (H.R. 615) would prevent the State Department from interfering with the legal importation of surplus collectable firearms from South Korea that were originally made in the United States.
Congressman Alan Nunnelee represents Mississippi’s First Congressional District and serves on the House Appropriations Committee. This is his first term.

I would love for Mississippi to fix the current “glitch” in its law. Home owners can have all the guns they want, and since your car is an extension of your home, it is legal to have a concealed weapon in your car. Mississippi also has an open carry provision, but it is word only - open carry is defined as “not concealed”, but a judge decided that a holster can be construed as partially or wholly concealing the weapon. Not too many people going to walk around with their weapon in their hand...
How about the “Second Amendment Restoration Act,” which would repeal the 1934 NFA and the 1968 GCA in their entirety, and also completely defund any part of the BATFE having to do with firearms?
Yeah, I know, it’ll never pass, and would be vetoed by the Fabian skidmark if it did. However, I want to get everyone in the Congress to cast a recorded vote on this issue.

The congressman is delivering the message “In God We Trust” at our church tomorrow morning. I’ll be sure to thank him for his support of our rights and deliver some of the comments/questions down thread.

He delivered a great message about “In God We Trust” this morning at East End Baptist Church in Columbus. I got a chance to thank him for his message and for his defense of the 2nd Amendment. Then I told him a large number of us would like to see our representatives on the record on the question of “Restoration of the 2nd.” Repeal the 1934 and 1968 laws and most of all defund the ATF.
