Most models have Irene skirting the east coast of Florida. Surf's up! Still going to be sure generator is up and running OK.

Hmm, puts our place near the SC/NC line kinda’ in the crosshairs.

Was planning on going to the beach this weekend for enjoyment - looks like we’ll be doing other stuff instead.

So there I was...expecting a strong wave south of us then all of a sudden it’s a storm near us to finally a hurricane on top of us.

By 1 - 2 AM I thought it had blown past us with no major issues. We even had electricity at home all through 2:00 AM. And then it really started howling. We didn’t have much data as the radar was down, no cable TV, sporadic internet access, and useless radio jockeys delving into incoming distress calls instead of telling us what’s happening with the system.

By now everybody knows that Irene curved north and cut straight across the island becoming a cat 1 on top of us.

By dawn it was semi-safe to go out so I got my car from the garage and checked on all relatives and the office.

We have power and internet at the office! A real achievement considering life in the tropics.

No major damage to report down here. Hope you guys in the mainland fair well.

Cheers,

cll
