Not quite the truth. It's swing voters we need to appeal to. This vastly huge group of Americans, largely apolitical, who vote because they feel it's their civic duty to do. They don't have deeply held political beliefs and don't really care to form any. When they step into the voting booth, they vote for the candidate they'd most like to have a beer with, the candidate they'd most like to have for a neighbor. For this group of voters, issues take a back seat to charisma and likability. This is the group of voters who decide elections. Every single time.
Bingo! That is why millions who voted for Reagan also voted for Obama. You cannot get two candidates with more strikingly different political views.

Image and personality are so very important. Better or worse. Like it or not. Clinton won over Bush because to millions (mostly women0 saw him as more fun, charismatic, cool, youthful, sexy, whatever. Last go around Obama had it all over McCain in this arena. McCain was old and gray and light years away from cool. Obama (whom I totally detest) came across as cool and youthful. Game over.
Perry has it all over Romney in this paradigm. Perry comes across as much more earthy, manly, youthful, dynamic. Unfortunately most people are all not that rational.
I think and HOPE they will vote for someone who Loves America. You have a Divde between Rinos and Conservatives no secret there. Sarah Palin is a Threat to the Rinos and Democrat Communists running their party,That makes Me a Fan of Hers and I would Support her for that reason
