Missouri state representative Chris Molendorp filed a bill last session to set up a health insurance exchange. HB 609 was passed unanimously by the House and by the Senate committee it was assigned to. It was never brought to the floor of the Senate. Why? Sen. Jane Cunningham said it was because she actually read the bill and was shocked at what it contained.
In 2010, Sen. Cunningham sponsored the Health Care Freedom Act, a referendum that sought to protect Missourians from the now infamous individual mandate. The Act was placed on the ballot in August 2010 as Proposition C; the first time any Americans got to vote on the measure and they passed it with 71% of the vote. (Full disclosure: I managed the campaign to pass Prop C.)
Cunningham read HB 609 to basically gut everything passed by the voters of Missouri in Prop C. Specifically, it yielded authority to the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, DC 46 different times. Beverly Gossage provides a substantive case against insurance exchanges in The Missouri Record, and in it she draws attention to a statement by Micheal Cannon of the CATO Institute:
I am continually surprised by how many people around the country mistakenly believe the new law requires states to create an Exchange. The authors of the law knew full well that such a requirement would be unconstitutional. Instead, the law asks states to do the heavy lifting of creating these bureaucracies, offers them considerable sums of money, and as a fallback position allows the federal government to create an Exchange if a state declines to do so.

The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Vote the sumbitches out.
“Despite the will of the voters” is a frakin’ common theme.
Despite the will of the voters on a multitude of occasions = California.
Despite the will of the voters on multitude of occasions = Obama and the progressive Dems.
I can go on with examples.
Apparently, Missouri has some fraked progressive libtards running the show... =.=
Just called my Tea Party FRiend in MO and asked him if they couldn’t start something likes been happening in WI to stop this revolting development in it’s tracks. He lurks here on FR and will follow the link. He indicated that this was a known situation by some but not all and he will throw some gasoline on the fire (so to speak), since they’re hot as a bottle rocket about this already.
At the risk of sounding like a “terrorist”, I am afraid the only way this is going to be stopped is if a very physical example is made of some of these people, along with the list of connections the perps used to commit the (and it is) crime.
mark for later
Chris Molendorp
Can we get a list of who voted for this?
All those who voted against what the people had already passed need to hear from voters.
Low volume ping list
FReepmail me to be on, or off, this list.
Hit 'em low and make it hurt, people!
No one in the house voted against it? Did they know what they were doing? Is the bill too complicated to understand? Did someone present a less than honest summary? Can’t believe I didn’t hear about this earlier.
Politicians like dirty diapers should be changed often.
With a name like that, he has no choice but to be a wild-eyed, baby killin, gender-confused, tree-huggin, union-thug, disease-ridden, whack-job, communist...packer.
What area does he represent ?
Looks like he's a married Republican insurance agent from Raymore Mo. Son of a school teacher.

Chris Molendorp is my local MO state rep. To date, he’s been faithful to conservative and Tea Party issues and proposals. He was elected with Tea Party support in the last election cycle.
I posted this article on my blog (http://crucis-court.blogspot.com/2011/08/state-insurance-pools.html). I’ve sent the article to Molendorp and asked for his comments. When I receive them, I’ll post them, too, on my blog.
As disclosure, I also attend Cass County Republican Central Committee meetings although I am not a dues-paying member.
uh,oh ping
Link to your blog or re post on this thread to tell us the Real Chris had been abducted or something.
I really want an explanation for this. It makes absolutely no sense.
