they don't speak to a yearning of some part of the human psyche On the contrary, Mr. B, they DO speak to that yearning...

I don’t get the “Annie” gag - is that supposed to be Little Orphan Annie?

Well, he was not macho enough to fight the illegal alien lobby in his state and protect American jobs...

"Currently, no other leading candidate (not Mitt Romney, Ron Paul or Michele Bachmann) in the Republican field comes across as more macho than Perry." LOL, except, of course, for Sarah Palin. Of course, she's not an "annunced" candidate, but I suspect she could take Perry to the woodshed if need be.

Only fun here on this thread — you’re need elsewhere.

I imagine Mrs. Perry took Rick to the woodshed a few times.
Amelia Perry(right), mother of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, shows her quilts at a meeting of the Buffalo Gap Republican Woman's Club at Perini Ranch Steakhouse Friday.
Perry called this quilt her "Scarlet O'Hara" quilt, because she made it out of a curtain during a time she was getting cancer treatments and spending most of her time at home.

NOW I understand what all the "bullies are more successful" stories in state-controlled media have been about; a passive-aggressive attack on Perry.
I have no use for CFR-Rick, but it's amazing how state-controlled media can coordinate their attacks so well.
I'd say it's a conspiracy, but state-controlled media wouldn't like it.

.She tries to help the governor not get too carried away with his own role. "I try to keep him grounded. Sometimes I wonder," she said. When he gets a little too puffed up, "I'm always saying:
'Who told you that you were cute today?' "
Still, she intends to get out on the campaign trail and play a more visible part.
"Not that I'm a vote-changer or a vote-getter or anything like that," she said. "But I'll do whatever I need to do because I think it's important that he get re-elected."
You have to grow thick skin, enjoy people, tackle big projects and, in all of it, keep family as a priority, she said.
The governor has also set his priorities. The staff knows to keep his schedule clear every Sept. 9. That's not his wedding day or an important birthday.
It's the anniversary of their first date.

When Rick Perry is in Rome, Romans do as he does.
