Conservatives were told, "this is the best you can do." We held our noses and voted for the RINO/Progressive wing of the Republican party and we got:

Department of Education budget doubled between FY2000 and FY2006
Department of Energy budget up by 50% between FY2000 and FY2006
A new entitlement, Medicare Part D
Even more "taxpayers" removed from the income tax rolls, putting us dangerously close to the tipping point where a majority of people don't pay any income taxes at all.
A Democrat majority in Congress in 2007 when Conservatives had had enough and stayed home, and "independents" believed the lies of the Rats who said they would reduce the deficits.

I could go on.

Republicans (the "ruling class" Republicans) are responsible for a large part of the mess we are in. The Obama/Reid/Pelosi socialists wouldn't have won in 2006 and 2008 if Ruling Class Republicans had not abandoned their (aleged) conservative principles under George W. Bush.

That's all water under the bridge right now. Let's talk about defeating Obama and the socialists. To do that, we need a candidate that can actually win. Obama's top two choices (people he thinks he can beat) are:

Mitt Romney (he takes the whole Obamacare repeal issue off the table because of RomneyCare)
Rick W. Perry (because the Dems can run against George W. Bush again).

Perry has some strengths. I could probably even vote for the guy. But he sounds like George W. Bush (his accent, his speech patterns and mannerisms). There is still too much hatred of Bush for that to work. It's too soon. Obama still blames Bush for everything, and his base still hates Bush.

I'm not convinced that Rick W. Perry can get past that in 2012.

This poll from PPP (People Pushing Perry?) doesn't convince me either. This polling group is not known for accuracy. They are known for pushing far left candidates and inflating their numbers. I seem to remember that the Daily Kos has commissioned polls from these people in the past, and blasted out the results as though they meant something. It's interesting that the PerryBots are doing the same thing now.
