Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush warned the Republican presidential hopefuls against ideological intransigence and knee-jerk opposition to President Barack Obama on Tuesday, saying they risk turning off middle-of-the-road voters.

Asked by Fox News host Neil Cavuto if some Republicans go too far in their criticism of Obama, Bush said flatly, “I do. I think when you start ascribing bad motives to the guy, that’s wrong. It turns off people who want solutions.

I’m fine with his part of the high road thing and he still says we must attack his policies and the results.

Just a different approach but, not the tact we need.

This guy needs to be taken to the woodshed and his term ended on January 21, 2013.

Bottom line.

This from the same family tree that told us a ‘new world order’ was upon us. The statement proved accurate, but who would have guessed what that meant. The Bush’s knew. I can’t risk my part of the USA on what another Bush says.

We went the kid gloves route in ‘08. Obummer steamrollered McLame. It was a massive failure. You saw how fast Obummers polls sank in just a week of Trump pummeling him everyday. People are angry. Time to direct that anger squarely on the WH. Hit Obummer hard everyday.

I agree that it is time to Hit Obama hard everyday. Hit him on a tangible result -- the economy. That is all that is needed.

The Bush’s are gracious to a fault.

Maybe that's why they are so faulty.

The worst mistake Reagan made was picking GHWB to be his running mate.

Barack Obama's response to Bush's final State of the Union

"Bush has let Wall Street run amok . . ."

"The surge has failed . . ."

"We need to immediately withdraw our troops from Iraq . . ."

"I don't believe history will judge this administration kindly . . ."

"The politics of fear and ideology . . ."

Well, we could try ideological intransigence for once and see if he’s right.

Ya, don’t say anything about Obama aiding and abetting these violent, lawless borders. It might appear too harsh, too extreme. Politically insensitive.

Oh yeah...

You have to be kidding?? Don't criticize??? Have you any understanding of the history of totalitarianism?

I said point out his result on the economy. Voters will be able to connect with that. Criticizing his motives will not work.

It's appalling how many Freepers have no idea about the evil our Republic faces.

It's appalling how may Freepers have no idea what it takes to win an election. That, after all, is the goal.

Our candidate will have to go right at the evil Marxist. They must be blunt and state that "his" motives are not in America's interest.

People care about issues, not motives. The biggest issue is the economy. If we can't win on that alone, we deserve to lose.

This Marxist pig and his buddies are doing their best to utterly destroy our Republic as founded. And you say, "don't criticize? It's laughable to believe that will work

No. This Marxist pig is doing everything to implement socialism with a tax, spend and spread the wealth program. The effects of these policies are devastating to the economy. People can relate to that, not some ideological debate.

I take it you do not have to do a lot of PR on your current job.

We could speculate, but we don’t know. Frankly, it simply doesn’t matter. What matters is WHAT he’s doing and the harmful results.

Very well stated. We lose the election if we cannot connect with the independents. We can connect with them on a tangible issue -- not motives.

You totally missed my point. His action (or inaction_ is the issue, not his motives.

I'm in agreement and as I think back to that election, who do you think would have been a better VP choice by President Reagan?

Yes, it's a "what if" game some 30 years later but a strong Constitutional Conservative as Ronald Reagan's running mate may have prevented Clinton and the DemonRATS from seizing power in 1992. Doubtlessly America would have been very different and 9/11 would never have happened.

No, this post is not from the Twilight Zone nor was it authored by Harry Turtledove. :-)

How about I just say what I want regarding Obama? I don't need any political protocol, or pointers from Jed or anyone.

I don't need someone suggesting what issues to confront this guy with or how to go about it. I'm not into the political correct homeowners association style party strategies or group think.

Hey, lets not stand up to Herr Hitler in the German parliamentary elections because it might turn off the national socialists and they are a growing part of the German Political Scene.

I appreciate your thoughtful comments, thank you. I see your point. However, I feel we see things from a different perspective.

I do believe people need to "clearly" see his motives. His motives are evil. He is purposely trying to destroy our Republic. People need to know his approach is not some difference on issues that can be corrected easily.

The people need to know he and his ilk are out to "fundamentally" change America from a Constitutional Republic to a Socialist Hell. Knowing his motives are key to awakening the people to the evil that is being visited upon us.

A think as the 2012 election approaches, he will get more desperate and radical in his attempt to either destroy the GOP candidate or take steps to fatally undermine our Republic. The other thing I fear is his cohorts may likely kick up a hornets nest in the Middle East in order to frighten the people into not changing the leadership. 2012 will be a very interesting election year. I think attacking the Marxist politically should be done on different levels.

For our Republic to survive, the evil Marxist must be defeated.

The only name I've ever heard mentioned was Kemp. It would have been a less balanced ticket, but people don't vote for the VP, and considering the landslide, it would have worked.
