Like his predecessor, George W. Bush, Perry already seems to be in over his head.
If all of the other over-the-top crap in the article wasn't enough, the author tips his hand with this sentence. People may disagree with much that Bush did (Lord knows I do), but Bush never, and I mean NEVER, gave the impression that he was in over his head. Even when he was butchering the English language, he always gave off an aura of command authority. Obama, on the other hand...

Ever since Chevy Chase helped Jimmy Carter win the 76 election by portraying President Ford as a bumbling fool, this line of attack has been in the Dems/Lib's playbook.
Think of all the times it's been trotted out since 76, just in Presidential elections. Used against Reagan. Used against Quayle. Used against Kemp. Used against GW Bush. Used against Palin. Now still being used against Palin, and now Perry.
And when it can't be used, they just roll out some other form of petty, visceral ridicule (paging Saul Alinsky, paging Saul Alinsky.). GHW Bush was corrupt (Iran-Contra). Dole was senile. Cheney was a dark overlord. McCain was nuts (as Bachmann now) that can be used to easily typecast and denigrate their opposition rather than fight based on ideals and ideas (Mr. Alinsky, please pick up the white courtesy phone).
