I’ve always hated flourescent light. It’s only upside is that it’s cheap, which is why it has industrial use. But for a lover of ambiance? No f-ing way. I’m stockpiling.

Yet another EPA “policy” the czars dictated.

I was told it would be “a year or so after the ban on sales go into effect”.

Now, with the sequential ban, going from 100 to 75 to 60, who knows the timing or the formula.
But, the Utilities have their orders!

It’s called “smart grid” and it has been rolling out for a few years now. If you want a real eye opener, look up some of the patents and especially take note of who they are assigned to.

There will be a Black Market. I even have a good idea will it will be run out of in my neighborhood. heh heh heh.
When will we start drawing the shades so the glow of Incandescent light can’t be seen by the Light Bulb Detector Van?

Recently someone on FR posted that the electrical companies will be using all those new power monitors that they’ve installed in homes to measure the usage and if it isn’t the ‘25% savings’ that the CFLs promise then the home owner will be penalized. I haven’t been able to find out if this is true, but it does sound like something the government would do.

According to the description on Wiki, 3-way bulbs and some other are exempted from the regulations.

It also appears that the ban is only on the manufacture and importation of such bulbs. So this woman can hoard and sell with no issues.

If you have a supply, chances are you’ll be “SWAT teamed” sometime in the future for having these “evil” bulbs. You’ll be branded as a terrorist and worse than a drug lord or rapist. But then, that’s the whimsy of tyranny—and we take it.

When Russia was the old Soviet Union (and for a while afterward), when you checked into a hotel, they issued a light bulb at the front desk. You had to return it when you checked out. Theft was that bad. All consumer products were in short supply in a controlled economy; you stood in a line for hours in hopes of buying some shoddy product that you could barter for something more useful. It will become like that here at the rate we are going.
