Late August and early September bring recent high school graduates, bright and eager, to campuses around the country. Carefully planned orientation sessions will impress upon freshmen the paramount importance of sensitivity, of avoiding offensive words and ideas, and—notwithstanding that in recent years approximately 55% of matriculating freshmen nationally have been female—the urgency of maintaining a campus atmosphere friendly to women.

But parents who might expect this orientation to include an introduction to the moral and political purposes of liberal education—including respect for liberty of thought and discussion, and due process of law—will be sorely disappointed.

My advice to college men: Don’t date any women from your college.

Date off campus.

At some point, one would think, the potential legal, health, and financial consequences of promiscuity would persuade a significant number of men to change their behavior. If this is not happening, we might deduce that damaging incidents such as rape accusations are sufficiently rare that the majority considers the risk insignificant.

The author of the article decried the lack of professors who were willing to challenge these totalitarian tactics on campus, and I join him in horror. However, the problem is even more deep rooted; it is based on the total abandoning of absolute truth in our society. That “laissez-perjury” exists is due to the fact that most people have no standard with which to hold up their actions. That standard is God’s truth which had always been active in the recognition of what was right and what was wrong to do. Since people no longer believe in God, the orthodox God anyhow, lying to the police or to the judge makes no moral impact on the accuser because she is lying first and foremost to herself. The best practice is for young men to abstain from pre marital sex and from alcohol, two avenues that lead to destruction. They, men and women, can read about the consequences of sin in the Bible, the book that has been warning mankind against this kind of behavior for a very long time.

Every year since 1989, in about 25 percent of the sexual assault cases referred to the FBI where results could be obtained (primarily by State and local law enforcement), the primary suspect has been excluded by forensic DNA testing.

If the foregoing results can be extrapolated, then the rate of false reports is roughly between 20 (if DNA excludes an accused) to 40 percent (if inconclusive DNA is added). The relatively low estimate of 25 to 26 percent is probably accurate, especially since it is supported by other sources.

False Rape Accusations May Be More Common Than Thought

At Columbia. A woman can make an anonymous charge and the male student is not allowed a defense and is not allowed to know the nature of the charge. Kafka anyone?
