The Federal Aviation Administration has cleared the way for the new Boeing 787 to take its first commercial flight.
Both the FAA and European regulators certified the plane for flight on Friday. Boeing plans to deliver the first 787 to Japan's All Nippon Airways in September. The airline plans to fly it for the first time as a charter on Oct. 26 and begin regular service Nov. 1.
Delivery is about three years late.

Great, plastic planes flown by computers using thin, non structual wires.

How is Boeing still in business (cash flow and all)? 50% of Boeing's revenue is from their Defense, Space and Security division.

Great, plastic planes flown by computers using thin, non structual wires.Plus huge windows and higher cabin pressure.
Sure hope these guys researched the Comet program from 60 years ago.

You can have the plastic 787. I myself, prefer to fly the 4 engine 747.

They sell a LOT of 747s and 737s... There are other Boeing planes that make the company a lot of cash to fund such overruns and production issues.

I suppose. a 3-year delay just can't be good for business unless the plane is powered by cold fusion.
It's certainly fun to see all of the 737's rolling through Nebraska and Montana on the train bound for WA though.
