Does he realize that the assassination of the incumbent President is needed to create a true parallel?

Some huge differences be5tween LBJ and Obama:

* JFK Left a booming economy when he CUT TAXES dramatically. LBJ promised to continue his policies.

* LBJ had the sympathy tide behind him. People did not want Camelot to end, just one year after JFK was assassinated.

* People were tired of the Korean War, the Bay of Pigs fiasco, etc. They were not prepared to go to war again. LBJ promised that he would seek “no wider war”. Goldwater said he would Bomb the hell out of the communists.

Today, We have a lousy economy bordering on depression with real unemployment rates at double digit. Obama is healthy and playing golf and goes on vacation everytime he can.

When you have Obama getting 40 pct of the vote it will be pretty hard to get to 270 EV’s. He has to defend FL which is gone NM will could go either way, He should spent all his time in MI,IN,PA,OH,WI,and hope like hell the rest of the country is insane again. Ron Paul could give him a run for his money for God sake, any breathing conservative kills Obama unless the real Messiah comes first.

If Perry gets the nomination and runs a conservative limited-government campaign, and Obama stills gets elected after the worst four years of presidential history ever, then this country is sunk. Obama is actually dumber than Carter...which says a lot. If Americans don’t vote Obama out by a two to one margin, then there’s no hope for us.

The more appropriate comparison for Rick Perry is LBJ himself. Both are corrupt arrogant cronyist jerks, regardless of party label.

The media had a monopoly on information and were very anti-war at the time. They hated Goldwater and were determined to destroy him.

That alone is a huge difference. The MSM is now just another source of info, they don’t control it anymore.

“This is a very critical period for Perry,” Oklahoma Rep. Tom Cole told reporters Jonathan Martin and Jake Sherman. “He’s got to prove he won’t self-destruct.”

He never has lost an election. He knows how to raise money. I don't know what all the concern is about.

Is Perry too conservative for the Republican ruling class?

And Obama’s campaign pledge to re-distribute wealth “from each according to his ability to each according to his need” didn’t bother the Libs at Politico a bit. They will be slanting every news story to get the Communist president re-elected. No wonder they have zero credibility.

Barry Goldwater was a great man. His book A Conscience of a Conservative was the most widely read political manifesto of the 20th century, and still a great read today, espousing conservative principles in the clearest of language.

We should be so lucky to get another Goldwater.

" However, Perry’s controversial statements – about Texas secession, the unconstitutionality of Social Security, his refusal to acknowledge climate change, his comparing homosexuality to alcoholism, his doubts about evolution and his questioning of President Barack Obama’s patriotism — may have already inflicted grave damage and, perhaps, destroyed his chance to become president."

If that's all Politico has got what is there to worry the ever mysterious and unknown "HILL REPUBLICANS" ~ who are the pukes who even talk to Politico.

Is this Luger, Hatch, Snow, ?

I like Perry, but he is no movement leader. Goldwater and Reagan were movement leaders. Goldwater lost, but Reagan had the ability to win over the voters. Perry is carrying much of the Reagan coalition with him, but this comparison is silly. Perry is a pretty mainstream candidate, simply governing with the 10th amendment in mind, and believing that the central government needs to get the heck out of the way and stop trying to control everyday life or tax it to death.

The left is losing it right now.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s suggestions that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke’s monetary policies are “treasonous” might be just a rhetorical speed bump on his road to the White House.

Since Perry didn't say anything rediculous, they have to make up words for him. Perry never said Bernanke was treasonous. He said that IF Bernanke used monetary policy to influence the outcome of the next election, THAT would be almost treasonous.

Media can't even get direct quotes right.

After 4 straight Democratic administrations why can’t we nominate a Conservative Republican.

...Oh you say the Bush’s were Republicans. Could have fooled me.

Perry is neither and it's ludicrous to consider the question.

I only read the title of the article.

Why read further?

However, Perry’s controversial statements – about Texas secession, the unconstitutionality of Social Security, his refusal to acknowledge climate change, his comparing homosexuality to alcoholism, his doubts about evolution and his questioning of President Barack Obama’s patriotism — may have already inflicted grave damage and, perhaps, destroyed his chance to become president.

It's the Politico - who expects facts from them? I challenge them to find an official quote where he said Texas should secede, or to find out where the constituipn allows for Social Security.

The other allegations are plusses for him - homosexuality and alcoholism are abnormalities and even if the 'condition" cannot be changed, the ACTIONS can be. I know homosexuals who opted to not practice the activities due to their own religious beliefs. I am a recovered alcoholic (always an alky, but not suffering from active drinking). Global warming is a fabrication that we cannot cause and could not stop if it were happening. As far as "having doubts" about evolution, what's wrong with that? Evolution is a theory, not a Law than can be absolutely proven any more than creationism can be disproven. Perry never said it's bunk, he just expressed doubts - a rational and healthy state of mind.
