“Mexican commandos have discreetly traveled to the United States, assembled at designated areasand dispatched helicopter missions back across the border aimed at suspected drug traffickers,” reports the New York Times. This is all part of what the Obama Administration is calling “boomerang operations” which are designed to get at Mexican drug traffickers through the back door. ”The cartels don’t expect Mexican police coming from the U.S.,” one senior military official told the Times. Clearly things are not going well in Mexico.

I think you have it about right. Mexico is a failed Narco state and will soon resemble Colombia in the 80’s. The Mexican govt is losing the drug war to the cartels. I believe that within 2-3 years we will probably be putting troops in Mexico. We will end up having to clean out the cartels for the Mexicans.

The Mexicans are still angry that we invaded over 100 years ago, and they resist having any military advisors in the country at all, aside from a tiny handful at the Embassy in Mexico City. They absolutely will not accept our help willingly.
Do you think that there's any stomach at all for a U.S. military invasion of Mexico?
When American law enforcement shoot somebody crossing the border illegally sometimes they are brought up on charges or are sued for violation of US civil rights. When the Mexican troops shoot someone on American Soil what happens?

Well there is not much stomach for Afghanistan and Libya either. But you are right we will probably have to just go in there at some point. It appears that the border situation is just deteriorating geometrically. I think the corruption of the Mexican govt cannot ever be overcome from within. Its too endemic.

The picture is bullshit. The soldier is a US Army Special Forces NCO and the choppers are MH-47s. That picture was taken in Afghanistan a few years ago and has been misused by any number of web persons. It is even used on sidebar ads on Facebook trying to entice people into taking some school’s DEA, ATF, etc. training.

Bush was planting kisses all over Vicente Fox’s butt prior to 9/11—he and Obama aren’t far apart on this issue.
The only difference I see is party, because the party who gets that bow on the gift first—they win ‘most popular’ and get that Mexican vote.
The whole mess just makes me think about Aesop’s fable— The Greedy Dog. That’s all those politicians are... they are greedy dogs.
