Cheney's Dog was Banned from Camp David for attacking Bush's dog

Former Vice President Dick Cheney recounts an amusing tale in his soon-to-be released autobiography about how his dog, Dave, was banned from the main lodge at Camp David for attacking the president’s dog, Barney.

A source provided The Daily Caller with a copy of the passage in Cheney’s book, “In My Time.”

In the text, Cheney writes that Dave, his one-hundred-pound yellow Labrador, often joined him on trips to Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland.

But Dave got himself into some trouble one particular morning when Cheney brought him along to breakfast at Laurel, the lodge where most official meals and meetings take place.

“No sooner had we walked inside did Dave catch sight of the president’s dog Barney,” Cheney writes. A “hot pursuit” then ensued.

Looks like Pres. GW had a problem with HIS dog not unlike the problem Gen. Patton had with his.

My little Cairn is definately the alpha, and other, bigger dogs accept that. She’s my first small dog ever, and quite an experience. Lovely dog, but, except for me, she’s the boss of it all.

I love it. That’s how we used to dress all our dogs from doxies to Labs to our current pet. They are so much fun. Love the dogs, Love the Cheney’s. Don’t care who disagrees with me. Cheney’s are good people. Smart people. Loving people and...they have LABS!!! :)

That lovely little dog who gave tours of the Christmas White House was nasty? That can’t be possible. I refuse to believe it.

Patton would have been jealous:

“Your name isn’t William, it’s Willie.”

A Lab attacking? Most unusual. Sounds like Barney was even wimpier than my Lab is.

I have an 80-pound Lab, and one of my sisters has a 10-pound miniature Dachshund. Whenever they come to visit, her dog charges mine periodically. We always say that he has the short-man syndrome.

They’ll probably take it to the pound when they move back to Chicago next year.

&&&
I doubt it. Those grifters will probably sell Bo for top dollar to some clown who would take pride in owning a dog that had once belonged to a president.

We were hosting a family camping trip. Son’s family brought their huge golden lab, Odie. Daughter’s family brought their regular-sized black lab, Taz. Sister-in-law brought their little Jack Russel terrier, Trixie. Guess who was in charge? The diminuative female kept the two big fellows in line. At dinner time she would not allow them to eat until she was done. She never bit, she`d just growl and charge them and they`d meekly line up until she was done.

Big Dick Cheney got off easy on that one, IMO. Another example of a bad owner rather than a bad dog, that he didn’t have sufficient control over Dave and let him chase down the much smaller dog.

Still, good for W—being so measured in his response that he didn’t ban Big Dick, the bad owner, instead!

They’ve taken to using Belgian dogs in Germany now. What next, American Staffordshires in Belgium?
