David Brooks advice to Perry opponents: Make him seem corrupt
The Daily Caller ^ | August 27, 2011 | Jeff Poor

One thing’s for certain — Texas Gov. Rick Perry has made an impressive charge in the polls since he announced his candidacy for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination early this month. So how does a guy like Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, take him on?

In an appearance on Friday’s “NewsHour” on PBS, New York Times columnist David Brooks explained that Romney will have to “do something aggressive” to remain formidable.

“He has only been in the race a couple of weeks but the polls moved to a degree that is almost unprecedented. He has catapulted and catapulted along all wings of the party. He is the guy they were waiting for — somebody who has a harder edge. Somebody who has very strong conservative credentials but who has been elected, run a major state, and I think Mitt Romney has to be thinking ‘I’m an outsider now. I’m behind and I have to do something aggressive to try to get back.’”

I don't recall Romney ever being a Conservative. He has been a Republican all along, and Perry can't say that.

Perry's position on illegal aliens also has not been Conservative in the slightest.

Still, do you have any idea why Romney is wasting his time running for the Republican nomination?

Perry received $37 million over 10 years from just 150 donors, which adds up to over a third of the $102 million he had raised as governor

Almost half of those donors received big contracts, tax breaks or appointments during Perry's tenure.

Clearly , Perry is for sale.

“He is the guy they were waiting for” So then, faux conservative, just who were you waiting for? Huh Pant Crease guy?

Brooks? He's found what he was waiting for, nestled between obama's legs.

You assume the Obamistas know the difference between right and wrong.

I think that's a serious error.

Apparently the Zero admin is afraid of Perry’s policies:

Esterny Ironche had no criminal history, and he was married to a U.S. citizen. He had overstayed a visa 15 years ago, but had paid his taxes and had legal work authorization from the government. He had a case pending before the Board of Immigration Appeals. And he was in remission for prostate cancer and participating in a clinical trial in Houston.

All of those factors, the lives that had carefully constructed together here, would surely count in his favor, they figured.

But the government did not spare Ironche, who was loaded onto a flight from Houston to Dallas with the suitcase his wife had packed for him. He arrived in Madrid early Thursday.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Friday that they could not comment on Ironche’s deportation, citing the agency’s privacy policy. A DHS official who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the agency has not yet started the national case reviews. The agency is still operating as it did before the Aug. 18 announcement, the official said, and will continue to do so until the government establishes a formal case review process.

” “David Brooks advice to Perry opponents: Make him seem corrupt”

Translate: “Talk about Perry’s record as governor.””

Between the two, Perry is the authentic conservative.

An authentic facsimile, perhaps. Perry is a center-right Moderate, at best.

In general the pukes in the MSM hit candidates on policies they themselves don't agree with.

Since all of them love their illegal alien lawn boys and upstairs maids, and the cheap tarts when on travel "investigating stories", they really aren't likely to attack on those issues.

The MSM crowd also want all their women-folk to have had gardisil shots ~ so they don't themselves catch any more genital warts.

You need to plumb the depths and find some Conservative policy Perry has really pushed that has already caused Leftwingtard heads to explode.

There aren't many.

Perry has been through 3 Texas Gov races. Tested by fire.

Tested by fire? Perry ran against weakling stink bugs every time. I only voted for him (twice) because he was the least odious of the bunch.

More convincing than Romney perhaps. But now we know who’s pulling for RINOs the most. It isn’t Republicans.

Marty62, I am exceptionally consistent. If you ran for public office, won and served AS A DEMOCRAT you are a RINO. It's a lifelong badge.

BTW, RR really blew it with the first amnesty. It should be rescinded and all those people sent back home.

BTW, Ronaldus Magnus never ran for public office as a Democrat. Conservatives all have a good sense of his history. You don’t. You are not a Conservative.
