If it’s because Africa is becoming more arid, that is not a good thing.

The idea that it could be due to the increased use of bed nets is pretty stupid when you think about it.
Mosquitoes aren’t only a pest of humans, but any warm blooded animal or bird. Last I heard there’s lots of animals and birds in Africa, and none of them sleep with bed nets over them.

Naw, I’m sure your state bird is okay.

Not just MN, when we were stationed in NW North Dakota the mosquito was considered to be the state bird. In the Grand Forks area there have been regular problems with Eastern Equine Encephalitis. Maybe the malarial parasite is more quickly killing off the carrier.

Maybe we can bring back the mosquito by injecting their eggs with tyranosaurus DNA.

More likely this is a sign of hope for Minnesota's mosquitos.
Cooler dryer climates are a sign of the impending return of the Big Ice ~ which has happened numerous times over the last few million years.
Minnesota mosquitos are well adapted to such a climate and will undoubtedly spread to Africa to take the place vacated by their moist warm Earth cousins.

Black flies. Nothing depends on Black Flies.
If black flies were eradicated life would be very good

minnesota needs mosquitoes. Fish eat mosquito larva so if there was a drop in mosquitoes, fish would starve, and minnesota would lose tourism from vacationing fishermen. Not only fish and tourism impact, but birds, frogs, mosquito repellent vendors, and t-shirt vendors. I think with no mosquitos, Minnesota turns into a vacant lot.

Looks like most of us agree... they went rogue with DDT. Now we need to do they same thing but with bed bugs.
