Issa Goes to War With New York Times Over ‘False Story’

Rep. Darrell Issa, the powerful chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has declared war on the New York Times after the newspaper published a front-page story last week linking the California Republican’s business activities to his congressional duties.

The story, “A Businessman in Congress Helps His District and Himself,” claims that Issa has used his congressional power to further enrich himself.

“As his private wealth and public power have grown, so too has the overlap between his private and business lives, with at least some of the congressman’s government actions helping to make a rich man even richer and raising potential for conflicts,” New York Times reporter Eric Lichtblau wrote.

Issa didn’t participate in what he calls a “false story,” but has launched a full-scale campaign pressing for a front-page retraction after his staff cited 13 errors, including the lead of the story that claims Issa’s district office building overlooks a golf course.

Now if the Hit Piece story had been attacking a Democrat, the story would not have been done.

I can't see how the New York Times can claim to be a world class newspaper if the staff of Rep Dan Issa could find 13 errors in the story.

Quite apparent that the New York Times was attacking/trying to discredit Dan Issa to protect Obama.

The New York Times Reporter [Lichtblau] Pulitzer Prize probably needs to be given back if he is going to write such wildly inaccurate stories.

It says a lot about the New York Times: Inaccurate reporting is acceptable as long as it suites the political agenda of the left and the New York Times.

There is a liberal, Afro-American Congressman in New York City they could be going after for all sorts of corruption charges.

But then that would be politically incorrect of them.

Afro-Americans never do anything wrong, especially Afro-American Congressmen and Congresswomen.

Now if a conservative had told the ACORN movement to go to hell as a certain Congresswoman recently did, then it might be fair and balanced.

That is why FoxNews has such great appeal -- it claims to be fair and balanced, and they have no competition on that point...

Absolutely! As a part of the Ministry of Propaganda that is what they are supposed to do.

The New York Times has become a rinky dink newspaper ~ they even let their lawyers convince them to shut down free public access to their internet version.

Bwahahahaha ~ buh-bye NYT!

Issa is fightin’ a paper who has multi times given our enemies classified/top secret info. There are very powerful dems working with Issa and other Republicans to help weaken Barry...to rid this country of him. They know their mistake helping to elect him...and are doing everything possible to remove him from our WH........

The NYT’s does not like Isa because he is upsetting the status quo. In particular he is sort of going after the big banker cartel in a small way. What the NYT’s should be doing a story on is the total fraud and illegal activities of the wall street bankers. The mortgage mess and all. And the fact that they have strategically placed members in the FED, Treasury, Sec, and all the other enforcement agencies. This way they never get punished for any of their frauds and illegal activities. In fact one of those big bankers even changed his name and then joined Isa’s committee so they could affect the outcome there as well.

Other than some of the blogs- the only one reporting on all of that is a liberal reporter named Matt Taibbi who writes for the liberal rag called rolling stones. It is a sad day when you can only get the truth about the wall street banker fraud from a source like that. But hey- Liberal or not then you still have to give Taibbi a lot of credit for doing real investigative journalism. Sad to think that even most conservatives don’t have a real clue as to how this nation ended up in the financial mess we are in. Yes- congress and the president have a lot to do with it. But they never could have achieved it without the help of crooked wall street bankers.

I don't think so. There are no such creatures as patriotic demoRATs or pro-life or pro-gun, etc. ANY demoRAT politician will always do whatever is needed to advance their socialist marxist agenda. 0dumb0 is a corrupt, incompetent, unqualified bozo in any arena, but he is THEIR left wing bozo, and the left knows that he is their best leftie to advance their socialist agenda. Especially because he left wing partisan media will do everything in their power to lie & deceive & distort for 0dumb0, while running down mercilessly any Repub challenger. There is nothing that 0dumb0 could do or not do, in order to get the demoRAT nod for a 2nd term. He could show up with dead girls lined up in his WH bedroom and he would still get 48% of the vote, with only 4-5% being contested between 0dumb0 & the GOP candidate.

What's a New York Times?

Do they have the numbers from the local cattle auction?

Taibbi is a crazy leftist, but he's honest and a brilliant writer.

The NYT story is BS. The Haller/Simyoni story is not and is very disturbing.

Lichtblau is an anti-gun guy and this is not about banking. It's about the Fast and Furious gunwalking scandal and coverup.
