Gore: Global warming skeptics are this generation’s racists
The Daily Caller ^ | August 28, 2011 | Caroline May

One day climate change skeptics will be seen in the same negative light as racists, at least so says former Vice President Al Gore.

In an interview with former advertising executive and Climate Reality Project collaborator Alex Bogusky broadcasted on UStream on Friday, Gore explained that in order for climate change alarmists to succeed, they must “win the conversation” against those who deny there is a crisis.

“I remember, again going back to my early years in the South, when the Civil Rights revolution was unfolding, there were two things that really made an impression on me,” Gore said. “My generation watched Bull Connor turning the hose on civil rights demonstrators and we went, ‘Whoa! How gross and evil is that?’ My generation asked old people, ‘Explain to me again why it is okay to discriminate against people because their skin color is different?’ And when they couldn’t really answer that question with integrity, the change really started.”

The former vice president recalled how society succeeded in marginalizing racists and said climate change skeptics must be defeated in the same manner.

“Secondly, back to this phrase ‘win the conversation,’” he continued. “There came a time when friends or people you work with or people you were in clubs with — you’re much younger than me so you didn’t have to go through this personally — but there came a time when racist comments would come up in the course of the conversation and in years past they were just natural. Then there came a time when people would say, ‘Hey, man why do you talk that way, I mean that is wrong. I don’t go for that so don’t talk that way around me. I just don’t believe that.’ That happened in millions of conversations and slowly the conversation was won.”

“We have to win the conversation on climate,” Gore added.

When Bogusky questioned the analogy, asking if the scientific reasoning behind climate change skeptics might throw a wrench into the good and evil comparison with racism, Gore did not back down.

“I think it’s the same where the moral component is concerned and where the facts are concerned I think it is important to get that out there, absolutely,” Gore said.

Gore also took shots at Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has lambasted climate change alarmists on the presidential campaign trail, and other politicians who dare to question the veracity of global warming science.

“This is an organized effort to attack the reputation of the scientific community as a whole, to attack their integrity, and to slander them with the lie that they are making up the science in order to make money,” Gore said.

Al Gore is finding it necessary to up the ante.

March 3, 2011: Conflicts Over Climate Issues Derail Senate EPA Budget Hearings The first Senate hearing considering U.S. EPA's proposed 2012 budget quickly veered off course into skirmishes over the status of climate science and language passed in the House continuing resolution two weeks ago which prevented EPA from implementing greenhouse gas regulations, underscoring the challenges in budget discussions ahead.

Republican Sens. James Inhofe (Okla.) and John Barrasso (Wyo.) walked Environment and Public Works Committee members down memory lane yesterday to point out media accounts in the 1970s that emphasized beliefs in so-called "global cooling" and to suggest that belief in climate science might be similarly upended.

"If we had committed the same amount of taxpayer resources and government manpower that the administration wants us to commit to prevent global warming to prevent global cooling, we would not be the most prosperous nation on earth," Barrasso said. "Advances in science and health care, diseases cured, children's lives saved would not be the reality we would have over those years. Millions of jobs would have needlessly been lost."

His comments put Democratic senators on the offensive, who said that such media accounts did not reflect the belief of mainstream scientists at the time. Debates on the science of climate change and its potential public health threats dominated a significant portion of yesterday's hearing.

In one of the few comments that did touch on the proposed fiscal 2012 budget, Inhofe called for a red pen to be taken to the budget in order to slash climate funding. As it stands now, the budget request is a "fiscal bait and switch"................

This is the crux of a speech that Algore has been giving to students.

He tells his audiences that they must be prepared to march like their parents did in the 60s — that their parents are wrong if they don’t understand the dangers of AGW.

Interesting, since gore’s father voted against the civil rights act, care to comment on the fact your own father and mentor was a racist Al?

Gore said. “My generation watched Bull Connor turning the hose on civil rights demonstrators and we went, ‘Whoa! How gross and evil is that?’

Al Gore knows that Bull Connor was of the Democratic Party. He's just counting on the ignorance of most Americans.

Incidently, when they play the race card you know they're running out of arguements.

Ya, Al Gore’s dad voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. I wonder what conversations young Al had with his dad. After all, we know that Al Gore, Jr. is a good Democrat and a good liberal, so of course he stood up to his father back in the day, and opposed his dad’s vote.

...Gore explained that in order for climate change alarmists to succeed, they must “win the conversation” against those who deny there is a crisis. ...

This is why the MSM and the "climate change experts" have continued the push against letting their "science" be challenged -- that "skeptics" "contraians" "deniers" must not get equal airing of their views -- they must not appear on shows giving an opposing view because this is "settled science" and the viewer is only confused when the "wrong" information is presented against climate disruption-warming-cooling-change-etc.

In other contexts, the liberals accuse conservatives of being against science. The implication is that only good liberals are in favor of scientific research of various kinds.

But those of us familiar with the scientific method know that you are not supposed to come to pre-determined conclusions. Scientists continue to study issues, perform experiments, conduct research, etc. , and true scientific inquiry would never allow somebody to say that the debate is over, as Al Gore likes to say about global warming. In true scientific inquiry, these issues are never completely settled.

But of course we have to take it on faith that someone such as Al Gore, who has no scientific training, is smarter than research scientists with years of experience in their fields.

Does he mention to his students he’d prefer they live in mud huts, freeze in the winter and die of heat stroke in the summer while he stuffs his coffers with cap and trade revenue? Will he mention while these students learn how to prepare soup out of grass, the rest of the world will be building power plants and living larger than post WWII?

The list is endless.

“That happened in millions of conversations and slowly the conversation was won.””

Libs think that winning the conversation is more important than having a truthful conversation.
