We should all bow down and thank Obama for calming this potentially catastrophic storm.

But seriously, does anyone remember the one a few years back that was barreling north in the Gulf as a strong 4 and then diminished to a 1 or 2 right before landfall? That was as close to a miracle as anything I’ve seen but I can’t remember which hurricane that was.

Was that Hurricane Ike? It came straight up through Texas and veered east of the DFW metroplex. Dumped massive amounts of water and kicked up a lot of wind around here, but didn't cause any real damage that I can recall.

I seem to recall that Ike hit other parts of Texas much harder. This was after Katrina and Rita.

Dang it. My memory’s slipping. Galveston got walloped hard by Ike. Houston too.
