Ron Paul says U.S. intervention motivated 9/11 attacks

Posted on 08/28/2011 7:02:20 PM PDT by HereInTheHeartland

Ron Paul says we brought 911 on ourselves, again. He is a disgrace.

Rick Rescorla knew they were coming back.

I think of of a great man like Rick Rescorla, the thousands who died on 911; the men and woman in uniform who have sacrificed for our country; then get very angry hearing Ron Paul mouth his lies and garbage.

“After 9/11, (people said) ‘Oh yeah, it’s those very bad people who hate us,’ but 15 of (the hijackers) came from Saudi Arabia,” said Paul.

That has always bothered me. Saudi Arabia has been set free of responsibility even after its been proven they raise funds for our enemies.

So what exactly did we do to Afghanistan prior to 9/11?

Nothing. Except giving them the weapons to defeat the invading Soviets. Kind of the most stark definition of "ingrate" in history.

Paul and Bachmann. Thankfully, neither one of them will get the nomination.

I read the article twice and didn't see Michele Bachmann referenced. So who the F do you think you are to compare a legitimate conservative tea party hero to a nut case like Ron Paul?

Go troll elsewhere, Bachmann has more balls than 95% of the entire Congress, maybe that is what scares you...

Thanks to Lt Presley O'Bannon, I have one of these hanging in the closet.

"Marine Corps history states that a sword of this type was presented to Marine First Lieutenant Presley O'Bannon by the Ottoman Empire viceroy, Prince Hamet, on December 8, 1805, during the First Barbary War, as a gesture of respect and praise for the Marines' actions at the Battle of Derne."

Admiral Yamamoto tried to warn them and they wouldn’t listen. So their strategy was to seize every strategic post before we could mobilize and hope we got tried of killing them to get them back. He was wrong, we were just warming up.

Paul would have just surrendered

Actually we were funding the faction opposed to Bin Laden. His money came from his own fortune and Saudi Arabia. By the time the Russians were gone we were not yet clear about him but soon were awakened to his danger. But Clinton couldn’t figure out what to do.

I don't think Ron Paul ever read any Tolkien...

"It takes but one foe to breed a war, not two, Master Warden," answered Eowyn. "And those who have not swords can still die upon them."

The Roman Senate persistently resisted foreign military involvements but was just as persistently drawn into them. Their desire for isolationism was as unrealistic as ours.

American Isolationism is traced back to Washington’s Farewell Address (written by Hamilton) and that is a completely invalid interpretation of what that document was about. It was, first and foremost, a warning against Secession or dissolution of the Union.

The warning Washington gave about involvement in European wars in 1796 was because the Republican French supporters (Jeffersonians) would be at war with the Federalist English supporters here in this country. And it was for a specific time and place. No one who has looked at Hamilton would mistake him as an “isolationist”.

Washington and Hamilton understood that our military power was so weak that we had trouble beating the Indians on the frontiers much less a French or British army. Jeffersonians in the Congress had reduced our naval buildup and emasculated our ability to respond to the seizure of our shipping by either nation and the Barbary pirates.

This guy is the Maxine Waters of the Right.

“It’s not about our ‘intervention.’ It’s about our very existence.”

Many people around here do not understand this.

The reason the highjackers were principally Saudi is because they could get into the country much easier than other middle easterners. Bin Laden was getting his money from private citizens in Saudi Arabia not the government.

SA had been trying to get the Taliban to eject Bin Laden for years before 911 as well. Don’t mistake it for a country without divisions either.

That has always bothered me. The Saudis are self indulgent suidae thinking they are superior to the rest of the Muslim world, let alone non-Muslims. They have completely escaped culpability for 9/11.

Unfortunately Ron Paul has a point. The reason AQ said they attacked us is because we prop up the SA king. In turn he lets us use the “holy ground” to mount attacks against other Muslims (Iraq). I think RP has the remedy all wrong. We should retreat back into our shell hoping that if we don’t bother anyone no one will bother us.

They people we helped in Afghanistan we dead by 911. The Taliban had no ties to us and did little to get rid of the Soviets either. Most of the aid was secret as well and I would say that very few Afghans even know about it.

We channeled much of it through the Pakistani Intelligence agency as well (as did the Saudis) and that was not real public either.

No real ingratitude there.

Those private citizens are also the government. No one in SA has significant money unless they get government approval in some way.

Wow. I’m quite surprised to see an article linked to the New Yorker here ar FR. I recall a while back trying to post material from the New Yorker but was informed the New Yorker did not approve. I wonder what happened to have them change their minds.
