Back then, academics were people who actually KNEW things, like multiple languages, a skill that required serious training in regards to studying (like the sciences and engineering) and then there were other things like if someone wanted to teach writing, they learned the exact method of constructing a perfect sentence or turn of phrase. School was for REAL subjects, not stuff like journalism (WHY does someone have to get a degree in that?) and in order to graduate you had to know stuff like multiple languages and write endlessly long essays and KNOW what you were talking about.

Because journalism has become a "soft science." There are journalistic techniques to bringing down Republican administrations...just as there are techniques for covering and obfuscating misdeeds of a Democratic administration.
