Wausau Mayor Jim Tipple:
"The banning of a political party from participation at any event co-sponsored by the City is against public policy and not in the best interest of all the citizens of the City of Wausau. And therefore, we encourage the event organizer to invite all interested parties, or reimburse the city for other costs."

Mayor Jim Tipple did the right thing.
On the whole, I agree with you. However, considering that MY personal tax dollars are used by the city to co-sponsor the event there is one of two options available — the unions sponsoring can PAY for the services they will be using, or they can accept some of my tax dollars, but abide by our local public policy... One or the other... I don’t think it’s good precedent to FORCE people to invite others. But, the precedent of the town co-sponsoring a partisan political event, IMHO, would be even worse...
Not the Von Shtupping Gay Parade
OK, never saw the movie though I remember the movie production trailer parked down by work when they were making the movie.
