Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) For the first time, Mitt Romney will headline a major national tea party rally.
On Labor Day the Republican presidential candidate will join the Tea Party Express Reclaiming America bus tour in Manchester, New Hampshire, organizers tell CNN.
The groups fifth national bus tour kicked off last week in California and will end in Tampa ahead of the CNN/Tea Party Express debate on September 12th. Thirty stops are on the bus tours schedule.
Romneys appearance at the event is significant: he has not headlined any events in the Tea Party Express previous four bus tours. Meanwhile, leaders of other tea party groups say they cannot recall any major tea party events that Romney has spoken to or attended since the movement began in 2009.

So Mitt bought his way onto the Tea Party Express?
“headline” - why?
Go
away!!!!!
(not you, Romney)
Amy Kremer needs “talking” too!
True, but can they recall who has?
instant, decaffeinated, calorie free herbal tea???
Why would a RINO like Romney think he could be accepted by the Tea Party?
I’m sure he’ll feel as comfortable there as Barack Obama would. I can just imagine him with a bottle of hand sanitizer at the ready and a Michael Jackson veil to keep from breathing in all of those wholesome grass roots.
Romney is part of the problem the Tea Party was created to solve.
Reagan's 11th Commandment applies to genuine Republicans. Romney is a liberal statist who is registered as a Republican, and as such, falls outside of the 11th Commandment protection. He's as much fair game as Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank.
He is worried now.
This is just a photo op to get him some still shots with adoring crowds. He needs to get booed.
Bingo! My thoughts exactly!
He could buy Lipton AND NesTea..it won’t make a difference..
That's a great question, and here's another: Why would the TPX give Romney a microphone and a stage? Romneycare = socialized medicine = NOT ONE VOTE FOR THIS IDIOT. No a$$hole, you can't take it back or spin it, ever.
Please tell me he invited himself.
Ugh!
But he wouldn't. Tea is against the Word of Wisdom.
“Why would a RINO like Romney think he could be accepted by the Tea Party?”
All he has to do is endorse Sarah Palin and he will be warmly accepted.
"Whoever the Republican nominee is will have to have the support of the Tea Party movement, the entire Tea Party movement," Chairwoman Amy Kremer said.I guess Amy Kremer now thinks she speaks for the whole Tea Party.Kremer went on to say the Tea Party is "completely neutral," adding that it "just wants to see the cream rise to the top... If Romney is the nominee I believe that we want to defeat Barack Obama."
No thanks, ‘mitt’ for brains
The only thing more inappropriate would be 0bama attending one.
If I recall, she got slapped down hard and had to more or less recant. It appears that she did not mean it.
This is Dead Man Walking and no need to attack him. He is finished and won’t be resurrected by his money. Perry’s rise in the polls shows the support for Romney is very weak and will start to flee as soon as a credible alternative is offered. He may win a few primaries in states with tiny electoral votes but that is it. What state could he win in the South? Even Michigan won’t support him over Perry.
Talking about Romney would only add to his credibility.
Amy is correct.
Give him a big cup of tea with milk and sugar...
and bickies of course..
He promised to sweep and dust and pick up the litter after ???
In tank top and shorts ???
Not by me, he wouldn't, though I am a Palin fan, hope she runs, and hope she wins. Romney is about as trustworthy and genuine as Eddie Haskell or Joe Isuzu -- ANYTHING coming out of his mouth, even -- actually, especially -- something I want to hear, is automatically graded as bullsh*t.
Deja vu -- EXACTLY what I thought about McCain in 2007.
I learned: complacency leads to defeat. Romney must be driven back and out of the running.
Now that Rickzilla has emerged, he comes running:
That's what I'm thinking.
Someone tell her to shut up.
However, like Dracula and John McCain, he'll try to sabotage the actual Republican nominee to assure an Obama second term.
Bingo.
Mitt sees Rick whipping his butt so he once again shifts shape.
Looks like THAT’S not the Tea Party I support...
You don't speak for me, Ms. RINO.
He’ll get boooed.
...Manchester, New Hampshire...says it all right there.
I supported Romney in 2008, I will vote for him if he receives the Republican nomination in 2012, but he will have to secure it without my help. Senator Dement asked those in S.Car. to wait until Labor Day to make a decision, I’m in Mississippi but I think I’ll wait at least until then. I voted for Bachmann in a straw poll, and at this time I’m leaning towards Perry. I really don’t want to denigrate someone I will end up having to support and vote for.
The difference is that the Right had no viable alternative to McCain whereas there are several now. It was obvious to many that McCain was going to be the nominee unless the Right unified around an alternative. It preferred to throw up people who could not win (Hunter, Huckabee, Thompsom).
No one is speaking of “complacency”, quite the opposite, supporting a conservative candidate with a chance and spreading their message will marginalize and eliminate Romney from contention. He has enough money to stay the course and will but will lose.
I agree.
Given Mormon dietary habits shouldn’t he say he’s with the Milk Party?
Who in their right mind invited (or approved) Slick Willard the future “god” of his own planet to a Tea Party Rally? Whoever it was should have their head examined... Romneycare and his ongoing support of it proves that he is NOT a conservative, neither does he represent or support the values and views of the Tea Party.
See if my thinking has slipped because I just turned 61. The Tea Party hates Obama because He passed Obamacare, has policies that have increased our nation’s debt, and does not follow the Constitution, right?
So instead we want a candidate whose claim to fame is the creator of Obamacare, who left his state with a 43% increase in debt, but is supported by the Tea Party because we don’t need Obama for 4 more years, instead we want Romney because he has an “R” after his name instead of a “D”
Where do I join such a clear-thinking organization?
All of the republican candidates have been invited to speak at tea parties.
The tour is ending in a republican presidential debate in Tampa on Sept 12th.
Makes sense to me.
He will probably be called on all of his liberal policies.
Then the TPX has undermined its entire raison d'etre if it has in fact invited Romney aboard.
Tea Party to Back Any GOP Nominee Including Romney [according to self-appointed tea party "leader"]
FLIP SLICK WILLARD RINO ROMNEY is almost hysterical in his daily rant against the commie in chief.
Too bad for poor WILLARD that he might as well be debating a mirror.
Opportunist phony coward degenerate sons of polygamist military service avoiding snake oil salesmen bitches from a family of phony coward degenerate sons of polygamist military service avoiding snake oil salesmen bitches like Romney need to be destroyed.
The GOP risks annihilation as long as he is in the mix.
This must be the last election cycle he is allowed to pollute.
