This is not the first time he's said as such but it's noteworthy that his thinking hasn't changed.

If nothing else, DeMint's intention to leave will fill the Republican primary roster to replace Graham in 2014, if for no other reason to make a statewide name in preparation for 2016.

It seems obvious DeMint won’t be getting into this race, but for a good year he looked like the ideal candidate.
With Perry in the race there is the needed excitement and fire. DeMint right now would only confuse the field-—adding
one more real contender to the mix, and one more antagonist to Perry, or vice-versa, the MSM would delight in seeing, and fomenting.
