Sarah Palin Appearance at Tea Party Rally in Iowa ‘No Longer Confirmed’
WSJ ^ | August 31, 2011 | Danny Yadron

Posted on 08/31/2011 8:11:56 AM PDT by markomalley

Sarah Palin canceled her Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.

The person cited “continual lying” from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell of Delaware would also speak.

Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palin’s speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.

Attendees were reportedly traveling from across the U.S. to attend the rally in Iowa, which holds the nation’s first nominating contest next year.

The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire.

Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. It’s also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said.

The former governor’s team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. O’Donnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. O’Donnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy.

If you use words like “jilted” when referring to a politician, it’s a sign that your relationship with him or her is deficient in objectivity.

Sounds like they’re trying to portray it as a catfight between Palin and O’Donnell?

Among other things. Note that the author of the piece says Palin may be "plotting" to run for president. Nah, there's no bias there.

Why in the world would she go through all of the rigors of campaigning and not run for the top job herself?

All of this Bachmann, Romney and Perry stuff is a silly side show. It has always been Palin. Should she decide to run, it will be she that will be the nominee. If she is the nominee, she will wipe the floor with the Traitor-in-Chief.

Of that, I have no doubt whatsoever.

LOL. But everyone besides you needs to stop speculating.

Note the continued reference to “Ms. Palin”, this article probably shouldn’t be taken as gospel.

The WSJ has its own style guide. I wouldn't read anything into this detail you've noticed.

Don’t feel jilted....Palins playing close to the mat now...the field is full and she’s not going to play in the medias pockets who would love nothing better than aligning Palin with fruitcake McDonnell.

Keep in mind there are now “mine fields” being planted...if Palin thinks she’s being set up for one she is going to dodge it for sure. And we know there has been iniltration into the Tea Party....so does she. So we all need to be prepared for her to dodge...and trust she knows what she is doing.

WSJ full of SH*T!

Correction: Sarah Palin put her appearance at a Tea Party of America rally in Indianola, Iowa, on hold but did not cancel it, as incorrectly reported in an earlier version of this post.

WSJ, trying to start trouble?

Concur...Assuming that Perry is the nominee, I've been thinking about whom he'd pick for VP...and I'm starting to think Christie..

If Perry asked, him..made an appeak, and promised Christie unlimited access to him, input on issues, AND designated areas of responsibility ( Homeland Security?) I think he'd say yes..

It would be an awesome ticket...

Agreed. I don’t think she will run as President, because her name has so many bad vibes now. Not her fault, but the media is running after her all the time.

A lot of it IS her fault though.

With her, it's one drama event after the next after the next. Today, her "big announcement" is frought with "lying" and confusion.

Frontal-lobe types of voters/supporters tend to get tired of the never ending bulls***

They had a scoop and went with it. Now the scoop has been revised. Big deal.

The real question is what the heck is going on with Sarah? “On hold”? What does that mean?

But barring that, I strongly expect Perry to be the next president. I’m basing this on how the American people seem to think and vote. Not how I would vote.

1)So, how would you vote?

2)The conclusions you draw regards how the American people seem to think and vote are drawn from, where again?

3)It seems how the Americvan people thought and voted in the last election was, shall we say, totally unexpected?

Out of fairness, the headline should probably be changed. The WSJ has apparently changed its tune and said that the event is on hold, not cancelled.
