he’s doing it on immigration now.

Actually, no he is not. Barry instructed AG Eric Holder to “halt deportation proceedings on a case-by-case basis against illegal aliens who meet certain criteria such as attending school, having family in the military or are primarily responsible for other family members’ care. That is doublespeak for letting them stay in the country, I know. But he did not sign an EO nullifying any particular law in regards to immigration.

Barry also instructed AG Eric Holder to no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act. But again that is entirely inconsistent with what Perry has stated he wants to do with Obamacare which was to, “sign an executive order wiping out as much of “Obamacare” as he can.

I disagree with Perry and his supporters on a good many issues. But I would gladly join in and celebrate Perry’s comments should they contain even a semblance of truth. But they don’t because the POTUS does not have the authority to nullify a law passed by congress with the use of an EO.

Want a bumper sticker?

How about “ProsPERRYty”

or how about “Enough with Hope and Change. I’m voting for ProsPERRYty.”

The fact that it’s misspelled will hack off the liberals even more.

Hello HB. Reasoned responses are always welcome. Unfortunately the nature of this issue causes many to resort to much less which gets us nowhere. I am guilty of it also but that’s just evidence of how the dialogue deteriorates once the first shot is fired.

There is much in Perry’s record that I find problematic, especially when it comes to his wanting and getting support of the conservative base. Of course being strong on immigration is key and that is where Perry is lacking. From the Dream Act (which he supports still) to his wish to grant citizenship to ILLEGALs that he says “serve their country”, Perry has a lot to answer for. His Republican opponents are sure to key in on those issues as will Barry should he get the chance.

I didn’t know much about Perry so I researched his past and to be frank, I didn't like a lot of what I found. I have posted about Perry and his past many times and I cannot believe the ferocity and acrimony I have seen coming from his followers when I do. If they get that upset when his record is scrutinized here on FR, how will respond when it is done on a nationally televised debate?

I see nothing wrong with being a cheerleader and think such criticisms are petty. We have much larger issues to contend with like do we want a president who, in my opinion, showed extremely bad judgment by signing the executive order on Gardasil? Do we want a president who showed extremely bad judgment by being the only Republican governor to endorse pro-abortion candidate, Rudy Giuliani? I know my asking these questions raises the ire in many -- but these are legitimate questions that I need to ask of myself if he is to get my support.

I know he has many conservative principles but that doesn’t mean we should overlook those that are not so I weigh in on the ‘are not’; that’s what we should do in a primary.

I agree, Perry’s handlers would do him well by monitoring Free Republic. We may be only a small segment of society but I believe we all vote and we all want to rid of the Marxist Kenyan, Obama. Who we nominate remains unknown -- but I hope, be they man or woman, they are the best conservative candidate. I’m not ready to settle for another GWB and I sure as heck don’t want Romney.

Cheers.
