VANCOUVER—Another foot has washed ashore in Vancouver, police said Tuesday.

Tuesday’s discovery marks the eighth foot to be found on the B.C. coast since August 2007. Three more have washed up in nearby Washington.

Vancouver police Const. Jana McGuinness said that a person reported finding “the remains of what appear to be a human foot and leg bones in a running shoe” on Tuesday afternoon.

“The shoe was found floating in the water next to the Plaza of Nations marina in False Creek,” she said in a news release.

Police and officials from the BC Coroner’s Service are investigating the discovery.

“There is no indication at this early stage in the investigation how the remains came to be there,” McGuinness said.

The first foot, discovered in August 2007 on Jedediah Island, northeast of Nanaimo, B.C., was associated with a deceased man whose name police withheld at the request of his family.

A man’s right foot found on Gabriola Island in August 2007 remains unidentified.

Two feet found on Valdez and Westham islands in July 2008 belonged to the same man.

And two female feet found in Richmond, B.C., in December 2008 belonged to the same woman.

In October 2009, a right foot was discovered on a beach in Richmond.

The RCMP should immediately investigate IHOP.

Do a search of the RCMP spokesperson Annie Linteau. Watch one of her news conferences and you’ll understand why the mystery continues. She’s the definition of vapid and that does not make one confident the investigators are any better.

Gruesome, but no mystery.

Running shoes float. Corpses (after a period of time) sink. Little sea creatures and decomposition eventually detach the extremities from the body, but the shoe protects the foot itself. The shoe floats to the surface with the foot inside and drifts around until it lands somewhere.

You could probably look at the tides and currents in the area and figure out where they are coming from. Could be boaters or deckhands on commercial vessels, or folks falling in from bridges or shores, or suicides. Locals would be reported missing, but not necessarily people from commercial vessels.

I’m with the commentor who says they are the remains of disposed victims of a local drug gang war. Bodies are weighted down and tossed in the drink. The corpses rot, are eaten by fish and come apart. Sneakers float. Homies from the Hood wear sneakers. Your mystery is solved.

Thank you, that will be $10.00 please...

Sure it's a mystery.

Who's feet? From where?

This has got to be the worst guerrilla advertising campaign by Nike that I've ever heard of. jk

Canadians don’t use feet anyway.

They’re on the metric system.

They may call it a foot, but was it really 12 inches?

I’d say there’s a common M.O.

If they were accidents or suicides the whole bloated corpse would wash up. These deaders have been cursorily weighted down so that the sneaker-shod foot doesn’t float free until the body rots sufficiently.

No, no mystery, just no one is talking ... this is mob crap

There is a question of whether it is Chinese or Russian ..

My guess is Chinese but waiting for the ethnicity of one of these victims to tell me which. If the victim is Southeast Asian, 90% chance it is Chinese ..... anything else it is likely Russian.

Lots of the Chinese Mob fled Hong Kong when the Chinese took over because they thought the risk was high that their leaders and assets could be seized.

On the Russian side, lots of them have infiltrated off Russian Ships out of Vlad .... what is a absolute travesty though is these illegals are in section 8 housing in Washington and Oregon in many cases.

Don’t confuse the Long term Russians in these states though, these guys just use them to hide among. The long term Russians are very strict orthodox, they don’t have tattoos. that is how you tell them apart.
