Perry fires back at pro-Bachmann super PAC
Politico ^ | September 1, 2011 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Posted on 09/01/2011 2:12:25 PM PDT by AAABEST

Rick Perry's campaign just responded to the attack ad that a pro-Michele Bachmann super PAC unveiled last night, which it is airing in South Carolina, and which hits him on his spending record as Texas governor:

“Gov. Perry is a proven fiscal conservative, having cut taxes, signed six balanced budgets, and led Texas to become America’s top job-creating state,” said Ray Sullivan, RickPerry.org’s communications director. “Congresswoman Bachmann’s front-group ad is patently and provably false. Unlike Washington, the Texas budget is balanced, does not run deficits and limits spending, even as Texas added jobs and population in big numbers.”

Excuse me, but some of those posts you numbered are NOT from Palin supporters.

I’m speaking about the actual Bachmann ad that was posted in post # 34, not Rick Perry’s campaign response to it.

Go watch the actual Bachmann ad from the Bachmann PAC (link provided in post 34 of this thread). What is so funny is that it is an absolutely pathetic commercial at the very basic level. (I won’t even dignify it enough to call it a political ad, lol). I have heard better Texan twang in the bathroom stalls at our Christmas tree farm in Cleburne, TX, and it is just plain corny!

Go watch it. You’ll see what I mean.

And a PS, even if the wife of Rick Perry’s communication’s director had anything to do with this Bachmann ad, it is STUPID.

I guess I’m glad Rick Perry got the husband then. :)

lindy, I warned you from the gitgo that michelle bachmann would do this. She has been lying since she first announced. I am no supporter of perry, but this is slime. It just is. And this is rollins handiwork. We ALL told you he would destroy her, and he has. This is the final nail in her coffin. It’s a real shame, but it is the truth.

Stay tuned, its a long way to the white house.

If it's not Bachmann he chooses, he'll need someone exactly like her

I have been wondering if Rick Santorum has cozied up, or hopes to cozy up, with Mitt Romney as well. He and Bachmann's appearances and campaign actions seem quite similar in many respects, both very favorably towards Mitt Romney.

Perry is just the ... more .. candidate than “Sarah!”

When will the Sarah lovers wake up. She’s NOT running.

She’s giving a speech in Korea in October. Hello, McFly, that’s not what serious candidates do. No votes in Korea.

If he did not spend more money than the state took in return the stimulus. Old amnesty Perry used the stimulus printed money to balance the budget and then bitched about the printing of money.

I would be surprised if you don't find waste - it is a government program, after all. However, I think you are wasting your time if your intent is to somehow taint Perry's candidacy because there was some waste in TEF - all he really has to do is point out how many jobs were created and how much the Texas economy benefited from the program. Unless you can prove that Perry personally approved large grants that created no benefit to the state of Texas in return for campaign donations, I think you are pissing into the wind - and that doesn't say a whole lot for your smarts...

perry supporters will find themselves on the wrong end of a thread quite like this in the not too distant future. I don’t know how there can be so many scarlet flags flying in the breeze and no one notices. I might be guilty of that myself here and there. I hope not. But to see otherwise rational people completely blind themselves to even the simplest truths is wierd.
Do we trust people because we WANT to, or because we NEED to? Is this what three years of obama has done to us? I swear I don’t know anymore.

If the IRS took twice as much out as they were supposed to, then offered a 1/4 of it back, would you take it?

If you're paying into the system, you may as well get as much back out of it as you can. Even if you think the system sucks.

Like I said, I honor a desire to have a strong immigration record. I tried to show that respect, and I agree we need something better than what we have been doing. I also did not mean to challenge your choices. I am sorry if I did.

My respect for your decision or even your thoughts are not in dispute in any way. I have no quarrel with you which may be hard to deal with since EVERYONE seems to be disputing everyone around here these days! LOL

I just have to question if Michele Bachmann’s words are even truthworthy now that I see she is capable of launching deceptive ads. We are talking about MICHELE BACHMANN! While I did not think she would get the candidacy, I had the utmost respect for her standards and principles. Now I see she is nothing more than another politician doing whatever she wants or needs to do to get elected.

I AM JUST PLAIN DISAPPOINTED IN HER ACTIONS HERE. That is probably why I am SO outraged.

I am talking about ME I guess, not you. I have not looked at your previous posts, so I have no clue who you are or are not. Right now, I don’t CARE if you are a Perry Supporter, a Palin supporter, or a DU troll for that fact. I don’t KNOW who you are and I have not written to you with any agenda to turn you or think for you. I am sorry if you thought I was doing that.

I am just truly upset that someone I expected a whole lot more from, and ESPECIALLY expected honesty from, would have gone to lies to get votes. I’m just really disappointed.

Again, please accept my apologies if I came off as if I was trying to think for you. I have no thoughts of mine in mind to put inside your head! I’m just disappointed in having to see that even Michele Bachmann lies so. Then when you mentioned something that led me to think how you were trusting her (in reference to what she has said about immigration)as did I (in her character), it made me think out loud in my post to you.

Sorry if I offended you. I just wanted to share my disappointment with you.

I guess sometimes even the most noble of people can forsake their character. I’m just sorry to have to see Michele Bachmann be one of those noble ones to fall.

I’ve got to face my maker some day and I’m not sure I want to say “Well it was him or the other guy”.

I’ve sold my principles for politics too many times and I’m not going to be like the drunk who promises to quit after one more drink. I’m done with that.

Precisely. I would also question whether Bachmann actually said what they claim. In other words is there a credible source for this alleged quote. Also, notice how quickly some Perrybot weighs in with the Bachmann “prone to gaff” comment. With not one instance cited.

Its the same as the anti-Palin crowd lurking here on FR who like to repeat the “many negatives” mantra. When I ask for examples from those posters all I get back is silence.

So says one of the chief supporters of Sarah Palin, whose state took in $2.24 of federal money for every dollar of federal income tax paid during her term as governor - the sixth highest recipient of federal payments in the country during that time period. (Texas was a net tax payer during that time.) Sorry org, I don't think that Sarah will try to go after Perry on this point - her own record will hardly stand the scrutiny...

Well then partner, go to the Mainstay Farm in Cleburne, TX, and you’ll hear it too! LOL

I swear I think they used the bathroom recording from The Mainstay Farm for this Bachmann ad! Seriously!

Time means nothing to MB. She "raised" 23 foster kids, don't you know...and needed only 2 weeks to "raise" some of them.
