Jerry Brown signals thumbs down on Amazon proposal
SacBee: Capitol Alert ^ | 9/1/11 | Jon Ortiz

Gov. Jerry Brown said this morning that he's leaning against Internet retailer Amazon.com's proposal to put off enforcing a new law that taxes online purchases in exchange for the company launching several California distribution centers that would create several thousand new jobs.

"I'm concerned about anything that will reduce revenue going forward because we have a very uncertain economy," the governor said shortly after speaking at an awards ceremony at Sacramento's Radisson Hotel honoring California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation employees. "Look, we need more revenues unless we're going keep curbing schools, courts, corrections."

He will probably sign the crazy babysitting bill though.

The bill would require that adult babysitters get at least minimum wage, benefits and a break with a replacement every 2 hours.

I think most babysitters already receive pay that is greater than or equal that required by the minimum wage, so that part of the bill wouldn’t destroy the market for babysitting. Requiring benefits and a break with a replacement every 2 hours certainly would, however.

It applies to non-family adult babysitters.

The man is an illegitimate governor has he has already served his two terms, limited by the California state constitution.

Of course when he ran for governor, he was the illegitimate attorney general, illegitimate because he had not been an active attorney within 5 years of running for AG. So report an ineligible candidate (brown as governor) to an illegitimate attorney general (brown’s experience as an attorney was far outside the 5 year limit), some truly evil people have been advising this tax thief.

People who have said they voted for him, knew he was violating the constitution and said they didn’t care.

The problem isn’t Amazon, it is the very corrupt Mr. Brown.

I thought when those term limits were enacted that they only applied to governors serving after the date of enactment.

It creates private sector jobs, so he’s opposed to it (even though those jobs would effectively add taxpayers).

Adult babysitters? Who hires adult babysitters? Lol. All the babysitters I had growing up were under 16. Some were under 14. So you’re saying the law doesn’t apply to those age groups?

Amazon already has facilities in Nevada east of Sparks if I remember correctly. Why? Because NV has nice taxes for them at that location. In Sparks, they have 'tax free zones' where you are not taxed on inventory until it leaves you warehouse.

I'm in Cali and dread every time I drive the streets knowing idiots are on the road with me. It's scary I tell you, no lie!

Wasn’t there a story about a 14 year old boy having sex with his 21 year old baby sitter just a few weeks back?

Kids don’t grow up like they use to. Parents coddle them far far far to much. Heck, my 4 year old knows how to load and operate the dishwasher. Something most college aged kids don’t know how to do. (he can add 2+2 and get 4 as well)

The democrats just documented that the state is flush with cash.

They voted to start a new multimillion dollar program.

Jerry,

You are a clueless, sad excuse for a governor. Please resign.

Signed,
