They did that in Michigan (A Granholm deal) but we killed it. They didn’t want to be unionized but were forced into it.
There was apparently a vote but the child care workers were unaware of the vote and the union voted without them and counted the votes without them.
Actually several states have had the same sort of thing happen. In fact home health care workers in Michigan are still under the control of a union they didn’t want but we’re working on it.
The same state that requires fast food workers to pay the state for a license?
Which is why unions are quickly becoming the most despised organizations in America. They thug people into paying union dues against their will. They're nothing but low life extortionists.
been unemployed for 15 months now guess I’ll join the union get myself a pension and start babysitting.
What the union did was send out letters which were tossed into the trash as junk mail. They weren’t union members or interested in union business so they tossed the letters.
It was quickly apparent that the union couldn’t represent them if the wanted to. After all, they are basically contractors so they’re both management and labor. The union simply planned to milk them for dues and shove them aside.
The dues they would have collected came out to around $20 million per year. Now the victims are forced to sue to get their money back. Fortunately the whole thing didn’t even last a year.
That's what unions do. They milk democrat campaign money from the workers, and therefore the businesses, until the businesses collapse. Then, the union moves on to it's next victim.
They've become nothing but a thuggery arm for the DNC.
People are catching on to the scam, but for millions it's too late. Their jobs are gone, and they have nowhere else to go.
California unemployment is 12% or so. Not the national average of 9.1%.
I thank god every day that I had the good judgment to leave the state of California last Summer.
This workers comp for baby sitters is a priority of the SEIU. They want to organize babysitters into a union and then get them into community organizing. Makes me want to puke.
This is going to backfire in ways I’m going to enjoy. Most of the people this will affect will be upper-middle-class types who like to hire illegals to watch their kids for pennies. Once those illegals are no longer so cheap, the demand for them will fall... see where I’m going?
Exactly. The loudest liberals are often the most horrible tightwad slave-masters.
“connected” daycare centers looking to drive out the competition.
Also helps those professional baby-sitting services.Possible unintended consequences include more stay at home moms, licensing requirements, training classes, background checks and other hoops to jump through before you can be a babysitter. In the beginning these things appear to be good for the worker. In the end, not so much. Some years ago there was a push in California to require special training and licensing to sell antiques.Usually there is someone pushing this sort of legislation who is all set with their “training” or “school” which one must attend in order to get the special “license”.
If you have to go through all this just to get a babysitter, stay home. I’m sure restaurants and theaters will get along just fine without the business and no one will lose their job.
Yes! But it gives them much more potential CONTROL over you and your life.
