Its an Obama World. Not only do illegal aliens not have to worry about being caught and deported they even get billions in tax credits. The Washington Post reported:
The Internal Revenue Service allowed undocumented workers to collect $4.2 billion in refundable tax credits last year, a new audit says, almost quadruple the sum five years ago.
Although undocumented workers are not eligible for federal benefits, the report released Thursday by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration concludes that federal law is ambiguous on whether these workers qualify for a tax break based on earned income called the additional child tax credit.
Taxpayers can claim this credit to reduce what they owe in taxes, often getting refunds from the government. The vagueness of federal law may have contributed to the $4.2 billion in credits, the report said.
The IRS said it lacks the authority to disallow the claims.
Wage earners who do not have Social Security numbers and are not authorized to work in the United States can use what the IRS calls individual taxpayer identification numbers. Often these result in fraudulent claims on tax returns, auditors found.
Filed under ‘critical facts buried by the MSM’.
This means that the illegal alien who claims two or more dependents and earned around $20,000 or less can get back all of any taxes withheld plus abut $5,000 in EITC.
Ping!
Every year there is a make shift en espanol only; I do Taxes business for them all to file at.Who knows the illegal mexican probably got stimulated to be an H and R block for illegal mexicans.
Not only do 49% of the population not pay income taxes, a significant number are actually PAID money for having kids via the EITC. Spreading the wealth around. I can’t blame this one on Obama as it’s been going on for years, but illegals shouldn’t have access to that money.
I have a Chinese friend who purchased a tax franchise and the business model is based on this market. She rents a space in the (mostly Latino) Mission District in San Francisco and hires a Spanish-speaking employee. She charges to do the tax return and they will loan money at very high-interest rates with the refund as collateral, so they can get their hands on some money right away. The EITC encourages people to keep popping out anchor babies.
I am not sure what your post means.
It is true that the IRS has no authority to get involved in immigration issues. The last thing we want is to increase its powers.
It is the job of the Justice Department to prosecute violators of federal law. I expect it to get right on this.
I remember seeing a lot of April news stories in the MSM showing warm and fuzzy illegal aliens sitting at tax preparers desks. The reporter would say “look at these immigrants ‘filing their taxes’”. Filing a tax return is not the same as paying income taxes.
BTW, when I was a taxpreparer you could not get a Earned Income Tax Credit with a taxpayer identification number. Anybody can get multiple taxpayer identication numbers by filing phony taxreturns with phony Schedule C income showing small amounts of income. Jose Gonzalez can get as many TIN’s as he wants. In the past he could get multiple mortgages as well.
When you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody. Relax, bitter clingers.
