White House Hints at More Economic Speeches, Proposals Ahead

In what could be a way of lowering expectations for next Thursday's big economic speech, aides to President Obama are privately spreading word that he will not present his entire jobs plan in his address to a Joint Session of Congress.

Aides say Thursday's speech will be part of a bigger plan the White House will roll out throughout the fall with the president hitting the road for speeches and town hall appearances. Aides have already confirmed that Obama will be traveling to California, Colorado, and Washington state for one three-day swing later this month that will include economic events as well as some fundraising.

The move could be a way to try and lower the stakes for Thursday's Joint Session appearance, but it could also be an attempt by the administration to show the president is trying to stay all over the economy heading into what will likely be an uphill re-election battle.

In other words, he has no plan for jobs.

The only thing he's ever been good at is campaigning, so....he hits the road. Off to the campaign! Rev up those tax payer paid buses (because no one is voluntarily donating)....
"Hope! Change!"

There is no problem a socialist can’t fix with a mediocre formulated speech.
Especially, if the speaker doesn’t have to answer for any part of it.
It’s what are country needs right now.. more talk less action..Oh, and more spending.
The problem is obvious..we haven’t spent ENOUGH.

I'm guessing the spin will be: "Look at how hard he's working to turn the economy around.......that's why he's talking about it in speech after speech........ He's so focused on this issue because he knows how much the American people are concerned about this.......yada, yada, yada"

It’s Obama’s version of waterboarding. He figures any congressman or voter will give up if subjected to enough Obama speeches.

In England, in the early 1800's there was a wonderfully deranged prophetess named Joanna Southcott.

Amongst her many wild acts of prophecy, which included predicting that at the age of 64 she would give birth to the "Shiloh of the Messiah" (whatever that might be) she left behind a sealed wooden box of prophecies to be opened after her death.

This became known as Joanna Southcott's Box. It was bequeathed to a ungrateful nation with the instruction that it be opened only at a time of national crisis, and then only in the presence of all twenty four bishops of the Church of England - who were to spend a fixed period of time beforehand studying Southcott's prophecies.

Well, it is a new millennium, and Obama is even more fey and ridiculous than Southcott. He is directly responsible for the national crisis, and at this time of financial peril he is, over the course of a few months going to impart a series of partial and fragmentary revelations on how to fix it. All we mortals have to do is collect the texts of his inspired teachings and somehow make sense of them!

It’s also a chance for us taxpayers to foot the enormous bill for him to campaign endlessly until November 2012 under the guise of “town halls”, speeches, etc., etc.

You're kidding. He's scheduled for 40 minutes.

So we were right and it really is nothing more than a way for zero to grab some headlines (which, of course, his propaganda arm - the "media" - will inflate beyond its real significance).

"A crisis requiring the convening of congress should require the man to lay out the situation in its entirety."

Agree completely. The Won calls a joint session of Congress to say that he has a bigger picture, but is only going to lay out one part of it? He does take us all for idiots.

This could be seen a mile away. Michelle Bachmann, yesterday:

"I mean, quite honestly, that’s all we’ve seen, and the president keeps giving speeches to announce he’s going to give another speech that maybe yet one day we will see a plan come from him, and the only inklings we have from him are that we will probably see a … stimulus."
