Given Øbama's narsicism. He knows there is bad weather at Camp David so he says to the minions in the motorcade you drive to Frederick and I'll take Marine One cuz damn if I'm gonna sit in traffic on my long vacation weekend.

I understand that the weather event was reported to the pilots before they even left. Why would they even leave?

I would suspect that "bad weather call" is some sort of secret service code.

Weather at Camp David.

Rest Of This Afterno...Cloudy. Highs in the upper 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph.

Ideal for Obama golf all weekend.

President Obama stays at the Aspen Lodge when he is at Camp David. (WhiteHouse.gov)

....or maybe he’s getting back together with Kal Penn and doesn’t want Reggie to know!

Anyway you call it, this is a bizarre story and the press will expend ZERO energy to find out what actually happened. Way back in the day, when I was a journalism major in college, we were taught to ask questions......a few spring to mind:

1) All weather reports from the area indicate a clear sunny day. What report did Marine One receive indicating otherwise?
2) Upon receiving such a report, why didn’t they just plan to drive the POTUS to Camp David?
3) Is it standard protocol to have motorcades waiting at various points along the flight route? If not, why did that happen this time?
4) Is there anyone accompanying Obama to Camp David? Was there anyone waiting with the motorcade when Marine One arrived?
5) Where are Mrs. Obama and Malia spending the Labor Day weekend?

Also, the report on Drudge said that acuweather didn’t have any bad weather in sight at the time. Very weird.

I think BO and Wookie are having major problems. Just pure speculation on my part.

I have no definite knowledge either, as my info comes from the National Enquirer on supermarket checkout lines. But, a normal person married to either BO or the Wookie would have a hard time. So, is it easier for the two of them to be together, or even worse?

ding, ding, ding, ding... we have a winner in the logic camp.

30 minute flight, why not just go back to where the support is instead of diverting to where there may be support and if there was support there why was it an unexpected diversion?

Camp David, Maryland. North of DC towards Gettysburg, Pa.

Nope, no weather there this afternoon.

Hmmmm? Could it be that moochie got pissed and wanted off the bus or was it something else?

I’m betting this presidency is in melt down.

Even ABC picked up on the weather angle; they checked with Accu-Weather, which reported mostly cloudy skies across the D.C. region at the time Marine One departed, with SE winds at 10 mph, and temps in the mid-70s. Not a thunderstorm on the radar, and (apparently) no reports of wind shear over the Maryland mountains.

I have two theories: first, Marine One experienced a major mechanical malfunction, forcing an emergency landing. Concern about other choppers in the fleet prevented Obama from taking another one on to Camp David. But that theory is obliterated if The One flew back to the White House to meet up with a motorcade.

Second theory: some sort of threat (real or perceived) along the route of flight. There is renewed concern about advanced MANPADS making their way into the hands of terrorists. The sighting of someone with an SA-24 along the flight path would be enough to force a change in plans.

Most likely Obama forgot his favorite outfit and had to return.

Or he left the training wheels for his bike at the W.H.

My guess is that the Barack and/or Michelle started acting really crazy, I mean violent crazy. That's why they had to land the helicopter.

There seems to be serious problems between them. Possibly because of Barack’s boyfriends and his drinking and drug abuse. That is why they took separate jets to Martha's Vineyard.

Obama can’t just sit around can he. He’s always on the go somewhere. Always trying to maximize all the Presidential perks while he still has them. Kind of like the guy that checks into a hotel, steals all the linens, empties the ice machine, turns the tv and radio to full volume, takes a 1 hour shower, steals the toilet paper and kleenix, and calls the front desk and complains that the air conditioner is too noisy and wants to change to another room. That’s Obama.

Hey — this could help reduce the debt problem
I think we should rent out the White House since
he is never there.

Camp David is about 570 meters - 1850 feet. That’s not very high. If the ceiling was anywhere close to that low I find it hard to understand why they would take off unless they were going to hop to Fredrick, Md. and travel the last 20 minutes by car.

I agree. We need our current President defeated, not harmed.

Given the chance even I would protect him with my life for the country.
I can't believe I just wrote that

Drinking was mentioned by his doc's, the other stuff I don't want to touch... But the picture of them sitting in the van not even looking at each other and it was steely cold. Man I am not a women, but I'd like to get a women's intuition on their relationship, my gut tells me something is not good between them. The stress of the job or the fact the "agenda" isn't getting done fast enough for her ( I think she is the uber Ideologue ) might be the issues. Either way, it is a strain, I see it and I wish him all the best, but It wouldn't suprise me if resigns for the sake of his family or something if he is truly coming unglued....
