Gibson Guitar Corp. is claiming the Obama administration wants more of its woodwork done overseas, as a bizarre battle heats up between the government and one of the country's most renowned guitar makers.
The dispute started in 2009, when federal agents raided the company over suspect wood shipments from Madagascar. Gibson took that case to court but has denounced the administration with a vengeance after agents returned late last month to raid several Gibson factories -- this time out of concern that Indian export laws had been violated.
In an interview earlier this week, CEO Henry Juszkiewicz claimed that the U.S. government even suggested Gibson's troubles would disappear if the company used foreign labor.

In an interview with KMJ AM’s “The Chris Daniel Show,” Juszkiewicz revealed some startling information.
CHRIS DANIEL: Mr. Juszkiewicz, did an agent of the US government suggest to you that your problems would go away if you used Madagascar labor instead of American labor?
HENRY JUSZKIEWICZ: They actually wrote that in a pleading.
CHRIS DANIEL: Excuse me?
HENRY JUSKIEWICZ: They actually wrote that it a pleading.
CHRIS DANIEL: That your problems would go away if you used Madagascar labor instead of our labor?
HENRY JUSKIEWICZ: Yes

They’ve basically said ” get out before something bad happens, if you know what we mean”since Gibson donates to Republicans. The competition Martin, gives to Democrats.
They both use wood from the same certified suppliers as stated by the Gibson CEO during an interview on Glen Becks radio show this morning.
Gibson was also raided last year and a million dollars worth of rosewood and ebony were siezed and held though no charges have been filed.
This is just another example of Chicago style political thuggery from this two
bit little dictator-in-chief.

It’s my guess that “who you donated to” is the reason for the suits the DOJ is filing right now. This IS the Chicago mafia; it’s taken over the U.S. We need to boot them out. Impeachment would be better than waiting til November of 2012!

I’m a righty and I use a Fender, Taylor and have used an Ovation many years ago. My next one in going to be an acoustic baritone 6 string, but I’m gonna have to donate a kidney, lung and maybe an eye.
Gibson donates to republicans and Martin donates to demonrats. Both use identical woods from the same places.
This is the second time Gibson has been raided in two years.
They still haven’t gotten the wood back seized in the first and no charges have been filed. If this isn’t blatant political buggery, I’ve never seen it.
May our enemies use these guitar strings to strangle every liberal in this country when they come and take it over.
That was me. I just put up about gthe same thing here. I’ve worked there and I play Gibson’s and Epiphones. I’ve screamed[politely in e-mail form] to all of my reps and have gotten a verbal deer in the headlights reply from most.
This is but one more briquette on the grill of searing anger for me.
Why is O’Really or Hannity not on this like white on rice?.. or black on mold?..
No one seems to be taking this seriously. It’s *only* guitars. I mean, who gives a damn about guitars except hippies and dope smokers? THAT’S the problem. Perception.
The broadcasters and talk radio honchos are still the elites. They do not see this as a political hit. So what do we do?
We got to get someone to pay attention. Where are the high profile guys like Nugent? does he even know this is happening?

Shouldn't have made a blanket statement, as I intuited when I wrote that there are probably exceptions. I'm not big into country music but am music in general and musical instruments.
The other points some are shocking it's come down to where we are now. I worry about it a lot, just don't say much.
Our local talk radio was all over it yesterday. That’s how I knew about it until this thread.
This story needs to explode. Most Americans have only a passing familiarity with the Gibson brand. Even fewer have had the pleasure of owning a Gibson guitar (they ain't cheap). This is a perfect example of Obama's war on American jobs. No spin is necessary. Shutting down an iconic American manufacturer for imagined violations of Indian laws and then telling them that their troubles would go away if they outsourced their labor is something that needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Every American, guitar player or not, needs to understand what is going on here.
