Rick Perry Slams ‘Job-killing’ Regulations for Unemployment Report

The State Column | Staff | Saturday, September 03, 2011

Texas Governor Rick Perry, an official candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, slammed the latest unemployment report on Friday. Perry’s comments were made on the heels of the US Department of Labor’s release of the August unemployment report. The newest unemployment figures show that the nation’s unemployment rate remains at 9.1 percent.

“President Obama’s job-killing polices continue to wreak havoc on the American economy,” Perry said on Friday. Perry has long been a fan of reducing the number of regulations on small businesses. Perry has found success creating jobs in Texas; a state where 40 percent of the nation’s new jobs have been created since June 2009.

In fact, Perry believes that limiting the number of regulations on small businesses has kept the unemployment rate lower than the national average in Texas. In an op-ed to USA Today, Perry simplified his model for job creation: “control spending, keep regulations fair and predictable, and simplify the tax code to once again spark job creation.”

The August unemployment report impacted the stock market on Friday as the major stock indexes saw significant losses. The unemployment report indicated that the US economy added 30,000 jobs in the health care sector, but lost 17,000 jobs in the Government sector. The average hourly earnings of a worker in the private sector of the economy decreased by 3 cents to $23.09.

A number of other GOP candidates and members of the GOP party also slammed the August unemployment report on Friday. Rep. Ron Paul’s (R-Tex.) campaign summed up the mood of many Americans: “Americans are enduring painful long-term joblessness. They’re witnessing their savings disappear due to lost income. They’re seeing their personal debt rise due to lost income. And they gaze despairingly upon their retirement plans as these arrangements are tabled or upended entirely.”

“Today’s disappointing unemployment report is further proof that President Obama has failed,” former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney said. “President Obama oversaw an economy that created zero jobs last month and that is unacceptable,” Romney argued. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) was equally candid about her reaction to the August unemployment rate. “Today’s jobs report showing that the economy created no jobs in the last month and unemployment at 9.1 percent is further evidence that President Obama’s failed economic policies are not working and have completely stalled job growth,” Bachmann argued.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) slammed the unemployment report as evidence of Obama’s failed economic policies. “Private-sector job growth continues to be undermined by the triple threat of higher taxes, more failed ‘stimulus’ spending, and excessive federal regulations,” Boehner said.

Perry will attend the Reagan Centennial debate in California on September 7th.

Obama said 8% unemployment and failed. Has Perry said what % his administration will produce?

I can understand why you post irrelevant pictures because you have nothing even marginally relevant or intelligent left to say. What next? Grunts?

Good one. Obama hates America, and roughly half the country doesn’t care.

This is how you "create" jobs -- you create an environment that is friendly to employers!

Rick Perry:

FIRST: "Don't spend all the money!"

SECOND: "Have a fair and predictable tax and regulatory policy!"

THIRD: "Have a legal system that doesn't allow for over suing and make loser pay!"

Perry also mentioned eliminating the corporate income tax a few days ago, which would also help the economy.
