I wonder if it is how people are raised? I was told by my Mother never to cry at work... it showed weakness. If you had to excuse yourself to the ladies room, then fine but don’t show that type of emotion. I think there are some jobs that shedding some tears may be more acceptable than others.. like if you are a nurse. But an executive? Never.

The only time a cried at work was during the time my grandmother was dying and I was burnt out. One day I went in and just couldn’t hold it together so I left early. Have I cried the whole way home? Yep. Asked for additional time at lunch to make up later because I was upset and needed to calm down? Yep. There was one point that work was so stressful, I left church and went home and cried, but NEVER in my office.
