I was wondering because only they and Glasier use the 100 grain with those results.

"I wonder how many of these fires were caused my knuckleheads using Charcoal on a day with 45mph wind gusts?"

Try to find ammo that has a low muzzle flash and preferably not +P rounds if you have a barrel larger than 3.75”. A heaver bullet will do the same damage with less recoil and muzzle flash. In a dark room, a large muzzle flash from a +P round will temporarily blind you, making it impossible for follow up shots.

Speaking of wheel guns, does anyone have first hand experience with the Ruger LCR in .38 Special? After hearing them talk about it on last weeks show, I'm wondering if it might be perfect for my wife. She has shot my .38s, but the trigger pull is a bit much. Last week, they talked as though the LCR has a smooth and light trigger. That, combined with the Hogue grips and a manageable recoil, make me wonder if it might be a winner for Ms. deo.

If any of you recommend it, I might try to get her to a gun shop that has one as a range rental, and see what she thinks.

I have been meaning to try out the LCR for all the same reasons that you stated.

Seriously, I wonder how many of these fires came from Labor day revelers BBQing in 45 MPH wind gusts.

I have never fired one. However, I have a friend that absolutely loves his.

I, too, have been looking at this exact same handgun for my wife. I'm not a big fan of DAO revolvers because of trigger pull/accuracy. This model seems to overcome the normal deficiencies of double action (hard pull, long pull, etc.)

Here's a report on them that is very favorable:

http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger-LCR2.htm

Being as they only weigh 13 ounces, I would probably have her run standard .38 SPL 158 grain semi-jacketed hollow points through it (in lieu of +P's).

In case you get to try one before we do, please give us a range report.

Thanks!

Will do! And I agree with you on the ammo. Your choice should be more than adequate.

The LCR is one of the guns my dad is now looking at. I don’t have any direct knowledge about them but haven’t heard any negatives.

Here’s a review that’s well woth the read:

Went to the gun show today.

Picked up an E.R. Shaw fluted target barrel for my older 10/22.

http://www.ershawbarrels.com/scb-replacement-barrels-and-kits.php

Also got one of the new Ruger BX-25 magazines. Pretty sweet!

http://shopruger.com/10_22-BX-25-MAGAZINE/productinfo/90361/

The 50mm scope on my rifle was sitting about 1/8th inch from the top of the factory barrel, so it had to come off to install the target barrel. Luckily, I had a set of high rings sitting around that will work with it. Mated everything to a black Hogue stock.

Then off to the range as soon as I can to see how she shoots.
