that’s Florida for you!!!
the guy was carrying and shot the Gator..hope he had a CW permit..but then, I guess that was the last thing on the police’ mind!
His biggest problem is he was in the Everglades which generally prohibit firearms, like most nation and state parks.
Still I doubt he’ll be prosecuted by the local police.
Here in Florida it isn’t required to posses a CCW in order to have a firearm with you in your vehicle. You only need it to carry concealed. Florida is a very gun friendly state with strong castle doctrine laws.
You may have a gun in your vehicle (loaded of course) as long as it is tucked away and out of sight. i.e. The two step process for acquisition.

“Dewain Daniels, who was driving by, stopped to help the woman, Ferraro said, and pulled her out of the water away from the alligator. But that didn’t stop the huge reptile, which tried to come out of the water three times.”
“Daniels shot the alligator between the eyes with a .22 Magnum rifle, according to the incident report from the wildlife commission, and it retreated into the water.”
