This is what happens when you replace civics class with classes on diversity and multiculturalism.

I have an interesting approach on this which might kick them in the teeth.

As a public school with public funds, YOU CAN SUE THEIR ASSESS FOR PROMOTION ONE RELIGION OVER ANOTHER.

That is not only the Saudi Flag. But the inscription on it in Arabic, the Shahada, is that of a central tenant of religion of ISLAM, which is exclusionary, and which directly says "There is No God but Allah, and Mohammad is His Messenger" (أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله).

Here is where the ACLU could step in based on separate of Church and State (their ballywick), in a public organization supporting such a demonstration that violated the civil rights of others (non adherents to Islam).

Pix of flags show broken dowel on American Flag. (Sounds like something Charlie Chan would say? I’ll leave it as is.)

‘One could almost say “Old Glory” is bowing to the Saudi rag....’

Besides flag protocol requiring the Stars and Stripes be higher than all other flags, the Stars and Stripes is placed to the left of the viewing audience when placed on the ground or floor.

In this Colorado school instance, when the Stars and Stripes is placed to the left in correct protocol, that particular bracket is tilted upwards, a most desireable position for our flag. The other flag bracket has any flag placed there flying parallel to the ground.

When this school gets the word, Old Glory will be in the bracket farthest to the left, thus flying tilting upward.

There are organizations - at least one - who have a flag protocol pamphlet. If every school receives one, perhaps some are not reading it.

I’m suggesting schools’ student councils receive one, also.
How about one for each classroom.

Why fly other countries’ flags, indeed.
Fly the Stars and Stripes and the state flag, only.
Refer to flag displays in textbooks to acquaint Americans with other countries’ flags, in case they go on ‘Jeopardy’ or some such - - -

Or have the teacher of the new ‘other country’ student show his/her FORMER flag to the classroom if the kid brings it to school, followed by showing the classroom OUR flag, yet again.

We have 4 grandkids attending Colorado schools - - - I do have a report that the elementary school 2 of them attend have the flag salute school-wide over the PA system, every day.
EVeryone, including janitors, students in halls, and parents, stop wherever they are, and participate. Excellent example to model. Just a normal, regular elementary school.
The granddaughter has had this privilege of leading over the PA, at least once.

God Bless ‘em.

Probably not a single staffer that ever studied Civics.

When I was in grade school the handling of our nations flag was serious business delegated to the more responsible students usually either BSA or 4-H. It was not allowed to touch the ground and yes adults were watching. It was raised first thing in the morning before classes started and lowered before the end of the school day. The only flag I remember seeing near our flag was our state flag flying below it.

The Saudi flag also includes a sword which is aimed at the throat of “infidels”. Notice that the thrust of the sword is from right to left, as is the Arabic script. And the muzzies go ballistic if the Saudi flag is not treated with the same reverence as the Koran, never mind ordinary flag ettiquette for the flags of all other nations.

The photo makes it appear that someone demanded the Saudi flag be more upright than the U.S. flag (which can be properly displayed vertically if all others are).

D@mn these arrogant muzzie b@stards! There are going to be some ugly incidents across this land between “the best of all peoples” (their words) and “vilest of all creatures” (that’s us, in their words). And the muzzies are going to realize too late that this isn’t Egypt or Pakistan, and that we “disobedient filthy kaffir dogs” are going to pierce their flesh with long, angry hard driven teeth!

):^(

The US flag should actually not be flown higher than the Canadian flag at your company in the US. Instead they should be flown on two flagpoles of equal height. The US flag should placed in the position of honor, it’s own right (someone looking at the building will see Old Glory on the left).

In Canada, the positions would be reversed.

The flagpoles are the same height, and the U.S. flag is on the left as you pull in the lot, but our flag has been hung a bit higher — probably not realizing these protocols.

Thanks!

It's a common, but incorrect, belief in the US that the US flag should always be higher.

When at peace, the flags of all nations are flown at the same height, but with proper respect to the "host" nation of the display.

In time of war, you fly your flag or ensign over the enemy's to signify defeat, particularly when capturing a enemy city, fortress, or ship.
